Okay, seriously that's a shit design.
>>

That looks like a cancer ridden fatty fucked a garde.
>>

Awful.
>>
There doesnt seem to be much interest for Heavy Gear Assault, for one their FB page doesnt have many likes and the forum doesnt have much activity, doesnt seem like there are many playing the alpha either.
>>
>>14272418
Nope. Fuck that. God damn it, between the HGA redesigns and the plastics looking pretty poor, I'm losing all hope in this franchise and there was damn little of it left.
>>
>>14272571
I'd didn't look like they did much for ages after the kickstarter. Crwdfunding rarely works with games.
>>
I just want to see some designs from the series, don't care too much for hga
>>
>>14272418

I kinda like this design. Weird colours though, like they were trying to copy the gundam. Think it'd look better with a different color scheme, like a khaki or olive paintjob.

Surprisingly, I do like the new designs. They looks gritty and "realistic" enough to be "military mecha". Also, I do like the effort the designers used to minimize the Gear`s profile. Original Heavy Gears were significantly taller IMHO. So, larger cockpit section in proportion to the other parts is reasonable. Flashy gundamesque colors looks completely out of context thou. In addition, the whole game being another team vs team arena battles, without storyline or singleplayer. Well, that sucks. Just imagine, how awesome MMORPG Heavy gears could have being? Huge world of wastelands and oasises. Levitating battleships of main factions. Airships. And huge number of gears in all manners of ownership. But that`s never happen, becaise it require more workhours per received $ than stupid arena deathmatch.

The new game designs are ass. Making all the gears the same height was such a dumb decision. It would be like making all the planes in ace combat the same length. Also, from what I've seen of the alpha there is no assistant computer AI like there was in HG1&2.

The redesigns look too alike to each other. You can't easily understand the general North vs South design from a glance.

>shitty e-sport meme instead of tactical combined arms combat
>shitty graphics
>shitty gameplay

It's been in development for years by people who're allegedly professionals and it still looks worse than a lot of indie games.

This shit is an absolute abortion.
>>
>>14274736
I was hoping for something akin to War Thunder with mecha instead of an e-sport meme thing as you put it
>>
>>14274428
It's definitely inspired, but the setting's pretty rich on its own merits It's very fun to just take an afternoon and read through the fluff in all the sourcebooks.

The Gear designs also take inspiration from Assault Suits Leynos and Assault Suits Valken, and the setting is reminiscent of Dougram in that it's about a colony planet fighting for independence from Earth.

Heavy gear assault is vaporware

Let's hope it stays that way

Long live Blitz and Universe!
>>
>>14274428
Not really a ripoff when they openly acknowledge its influence (and memory serves even give it a 'Thank you') in the basebooks.

It's more like they're figthing an invasion from earth. The point Earth shows up again they've been independant for generations already after all. Evem longer if you count the descendants of the supersoldiers that colonized the planet ahead of the rest of humanity.

I know heavy gear from the early pen and paper RPG and tabletop strategy game, and I've been getting back into the excitement as my kickstarter draws near.

I'm curious, how are you all familiar with heavy gear? How did you start to know about it? What so you like about it over other mecha settings?
>>
>>14278544
I first learnt about it from the video games, then found out about the wargame/roleplaying game. I then devoured everything I could about it (which was hard being a poor child in a country where it was never stocked). I love the depth of the setting, the way Terra Nova's organised, the designs, the way warfare works, the broader world, the versimillitude, especially in space and so on, landships, duellists, etc. It's one of my favourite wargames/RPGs I've never played.
>>
>>14275572
This. Terra Nova has been defacto independent for centuries, if not millenia; it's got its own countries and treaty organisations. It's fought off an attempt by the CEF to subjugate it and is currently bringing the fight covertly to Earth controlled planets throughout space, all the while the nations on Terra Nova continue to plot and scheme against each other.
>>
>>14280993
Very much so.

What I love about it is it does mecha right. It's fairly practical. Gears fill the gap between tanks and infantry. Tanks are still kings of the battlefield, and a gear isn't expected to survive a tank round, but they do have their role on the battlefield. That balance of maneuverability of infantry and firepower right below a tank makes them one of the more realistic renditions of mecha. Them being not fuckhueg is also a major plus. I like giant mecha sometimes, but my disbelief can only be suspended so far.
>>
>>14278544
Pretty much the same as
>>14280993
And yes, the gears are about as close to a "belivable mechs" as the game ever approach. Just as >>14281224 mentioned.
Plus, the whole world settings are interesting, providing quite good opportunity for RPG scenario development. It is sort of fantasy, with duels, raids to enemy territory, private heavy weapon systems, etc. And that is quite uncommon for realistic "modern world" settings.
Laughed at some ground vehicles designs thou.
