Girl on Gaea doesn't have the same scope of the show, but if isn't too bad if you accept it as it's on original story.
Some may swear by the tv series, but Encounters in Space is just so memorable that it holds a place in my heart.

I actually liked the non /m/ stuff in DYRL the best. Simple things like Hikaru and Minmay hanging out, trying on clothes, drinking coke in zero G. It has a very romantic quality to it, like an old hollywood movie.
