Kuromokuro mecha...they look like modern Japanese robots like Asimo; they are armed with Gatling guns instead of the huge assault rifles; they have two drivers for the distribution of information load; They are equipped with shields of armor ...
it's all good, but ...
They are more than nineteen meters in height !!! Why the hell should do mecha so huge?!
That's pretty normal for the larger end real robots. Most gundams are between 18-20 meters. The weapons are pretty standard too.
bigger is better, duh

But generally speaking, height has an inverse relationship with realness. The bigger they are, the less believable (and often, the more cartoony) they become.
Yeah, around twenty has become a bit of a standard size for real-type giant robots.

It's explained with some sort of gravity control device that works as a force field as well.

Yup, the scientists reverse-enginneer these from the titular Kuromukuro. Thats why one of the enemy robots "demons" walks on water. The smaller mecha don't have it because they don't need it.

Every mecha is real within its own setting.

With small mecha do something strange, the pilot in an open cockpit, manipulators ... no recalls some odd bike on legs
