The plot is LITERALLY Ultraman with a Sentai lineup who turn into Braves
The character designs are generic, or maybe it's just the colors but nobody looks really appealing
I have no idea what the tone of the series is about five episodes in and whether or not it's funny and lighthearted or a drama with hotblooded stuff. Somebody in the chat tried to say it was just a kids' show and that it's meant to entertain kids, but most good shows are clear on what their tone is.
This last episode was really bad because of the detention vs monster attack thing. Is it a big joke of a scenario or not? Nobody's poking fun except for the vice principal making a weird voice and the principal talking about seishun, so it's seriously about detention vs a monster attack, a real monster attack that doesn't have a silly gimmick. In a Toei magical girl show an episode with this same plot would have a jagoff monster with a dumb gimmick and everyone would be cracking jokes about how dumb it is but a character would still need to ditch detention in order to help their friends. The fight against the monster is played completely straight and that's simply no good

In fairness, the show was written by a guy who pretty much was only a secondary writer on Sentai (which really starts to show when you see his work on the Mega Man Battle Network anime). When you only ever work on one kind of subject matter or series, you don't have much of a distinct style (see Ken Tanaka on Precure).
