Another great designs book by Mamoru Nagano. This one is smaller (page count and physical size) than the other 4 books but it's still packed with art. Focusing more on characters this time (only a few pages with MH/GTM art) and it includes the 'FSS School Designs' content.
I should be starting a scan of one of the books my friend sent to me tonight and hopefully posting it this weekend.

I didn't download the Gundam Perfect File batch, since I need to know if every file there is from the same source(every vol from baidu) or you mixed it with the old vols you had already posted
I also have lots of books from cnmsl like the complete Dengeki Data Collection collection(minus the HQ Unicorn one you already got)
I also see you get some baidu new stuff from the hentai site but beware they lower the image quality, always get them from baidu. See the Ebikawa book

Sorry, save for the stuff I scan myself I can't really say where stuff originates. Baidu sources give me a lot of trouble too with extremely slow speed and frequent timeouts.
The Gundam Perfect File batch is all from a now non-existant board I found a couple years ago, they all felt like the same scanner had done them.
Hopefully, someday I'll get my own copies of FSS XI through XII and get them scanned. The new ones as well...

It's terrifying how good Nagano has gotten at character designs. I'll bet he made a deal with the devil to draw better characters in exchange for torpedoing his mecha designs.

I'm surprised too. Most chara designers from the 80's like Mikimoto have actually gotten worse with time. Seems to be the opposite with Nagano.

I liked 80's Nagano. Not as much as his newer designs, but the aesthetic was consistent and rather charming in its simplicity. It was when the 90's hit that Nagano's characters became horrific, but that entire era up to the mid-2000s was an utter disaster for character designers everywhere. Everyone seems to have gotten better since then.

That's the thing though- the animation director is as important to how the characters look as the character designer himself. That's why Thunderbolt's character designs looked amazing in the show but terrible in the lineart.
