Thie big question is wether Elysion was the Macross that was attached to city colony that came to Ragna. We see that the colony is clearly of the smaller variety, ala macross 7, but battle 7 was pretty much identical to battle frontier right? Elysion seems smaller by comparison, but not quite as small as a quarter? questions questions...
>>14258403

>>14258401
>Macross Delta
>no delta wings
>>14258427
I'll say Elysion is a full sized Macross.
Since Elysion appeared to be some kind of mixture between the old and new designs, the class that the Elysion falls under probably was a design that was made after the SDF style ships but before the Battle-class was designed.
Considering that Macross 5(the fleet that colonised Rax and got mindcontrolled by the Protodevlin in 7) was using a Battle-class, that fleet that colonised Ragna probably was one of the even earlier New Macross class colonies, probably Macross 2 or 3, or even possibly Macross 1.
Also, Battle Frontier is actually slightly bigger than Battle 7 and is way heavier.
>>14258468
But they do.
>>14258472
I think it's macross 2 that colonizes ragna
>>14258434
Shit, they do look similar.
>>14258472
>>14258489
There's no reason for Ragna's Macross to be between 1 and 5, especially since 1 is the SDF-1.
Journeying to Ragna might've taken less time than getting to Rax depending on the route taken.
>>14258492
No. They do not.
>>14258492

>>14258496
>1 is the SDF-1
Not really.
Macross Frontier(aka Macross 25) is the 25th New Macross class fleet, but the 59th immigration fleet.
We can infer that there are 29 other fleets which are not New Macross class fleets.
>>14258473

>>14258496
>There's no reason for Ragna's Macross to be between 1-5
Except its an early macross because, 1) the city dome is the small variety and 2) Ragna was discovered early, with Windermere being discovered even earlier by a Megaroad class.
>Especially since 1 is the SDF-1
No Macross 01 is New Macross type 01. It's nothing to do with the SDF-1
>>14258517
the only similarity is the the two flight decks.
>>14258520
If we trust the faggots at macrossworld. Windermere looks to be discovered by megaroad 06, while ragna was colonized by said Macross 01.
>>14258521
Which is more similarities than to the SDF-3.
>>14258500
>>14258504
They've both got that weird, un-Macross-like catamaran hull shape with the strange weighting of the command section near the aft, and a bunch of useless gribbley bits. Elysion definitely looks more like the SDF-3 than any other Macross-class ship in prior Kawamori anime.
>>14258527

>>14258591

>>14258591
Looking at Robotech's roots, I think any part of this is more likely just a visual coincidence that has been waiting to happen for a long time.
>They've both got that weird, un-Macross-like catamaran hull shape
An obvious split front has been a thing since the Quarter. Regardless, the Battle/Quarter transformations place the arms forward; if you took the gunship out from a Battle-class it would have a catamaran lower hull, too. A lot of rumors are currently flying around as to Elysion's details as a possible in-betweener design for the SDFs and the Battle/Quarter types. Considering the layout of Macross-type vessels in general, a parallel-split front hull is a normal design to have.
In any case, the catamaran design of the SDF-3 in both initial and refitted versions is also more closely packed to each other than the Elysion's two Aethers so I don't see how the resemblance goes beyond a general similarity in silhouette that applies to plenty of other designs at once, including the aforementioned General Revil in >>14258517.
>with the strange weighting of the command section near the aft
There are almost hundreds of sci-fi warship designs that do this, not least almost every large vessel in Macross.
>and a bunch of useless greebley bits.
Greeble is formed mainly from protruding shapes out of the relative surface of the object. Neither the Elysion nor the SDF-3 abuses raised shapes, their superfluous detail comes mainly from panel lining. You want to find greebling at its finest example, try Star Destroyers or Borg ships.

>>14259283
a quick google search on their F-15 line gave me this, looks pre-painted but the panel lines seems thin, they also cost over twice as much as a 1/144 gunpla but I have no idea if that's actually on par with plane kits of that scale, though they do cost about as much as bandai's line of 1/72 macross kits
>>14259329
>Some MDE/heavy quantum weaponry from the 27/29 series perhaps?
MDE enhancements, probably.
Heavy quantum beam weapons, the 27 and 29 has them in the gunpod.
I expect Hayate's VF-31 to get wrecked in the final battle and he hops into a quickly-modded-to-his-preferences 31A and ends it all with a delta wing VF

>>14262011
IBO performed on par with G-Reco in many aspects. However, we're unsure of things like gunpla sales (the real moneymaker for Bandai) because those numbers are never released. The closest we've gotten is when Bandai people tweeted that Try and Reco were both doing good or something equally vague. The problem is that IBO is their 52-episode series in an amazing time block while G-Reco was one of two Gundam series airing at once, wasn't hyped as much, and aired late night on a weekday (Wednesday or Thursday or something). IBO should be compared to SEED, AGE, and 00, where it slumps in comparison.

>An obvious split front has been a thing since the Quarter.
But Quarter had the two hulls offset, while Elysion has them equal like the SDF-3's Tyrolian disguise.
>A lot of rumors are currently flying around as to Elysion's details as a possible in-betweener design for the SDFs and the Battle/Quarter types
This is still just Internet speculation, isn't it? Nothing official has described the Elysion in any way that I've seen.
>There are almost hundreds of sci-fi warship designs that do this, not least almost every large vessel in Macross.
But compared to the way the other Macross ships are designed, in this cruising configuration it's not the same at all as the others. See, both the Elysion and the SDF-3 have two large bulbs at the front of the "command hull," whereas other Macross have a single bow there. 7 had two hangars, whereas Frontier and Galaxy had large gun emplacements. When I say it's weird at the back, I mean the configuration of the engines and command section are weirdly similar; they're both splayed out in two clusters at the end with a space in-between, have the two bulbs at the front, and have a semi-recessed bridge in the middle where other Macross ships have towers that are prominently sticking out.
>>14262179

>>14247192
>Triangle
This one is gotta be the most forced shit ever.
>>14262192
And if you watched the show you'd see it isn't. 7 episodes in and we don't even have a single damn hint of romance between the main characters.
>>14262191

>>14262198
>Main Characters

>>14262198
We have the whole boy meets grill going on with Hayate and Freyja, and how they spend a lot of time together and how he helped her to make her dreams reality and how he loves her songs and what a good chemistry they have together overall. And then on the other hand you have how Mirage and Hayate use the same colors as Max and Millia, I guess? So yeah, there's no triangle at fucking all, it's just forced as shit.
>>14262201
No, it isn't, you fucking moron.
>>14262179
>This is still just Internet speculation, isn't it? Nothing official has described the Elysion in any way that I've seen.
Those speculation are still firmly based on the setting. The fact is that Elysion has design elements from both the SDF and the Battle/Quarter.
>both the Elysion and the SDF-3 have two large bulbs at the front of the "command hull," whereas other Macross have a single bow there. 7 had two hangars, whereas Frontier and Galaxy had large gun emplacements. When I say it's weird at the back, I mean the configuration of the engines and command section are weirdly similar; they're both splayed out in two clusters at the end with a space in-between, have the two bulbs at the front,
That may all make sense to you. But look at the Elysion, then look at the SDF-3. All you're seeing is just similarity in layout, all of that pretty much applies to the White Base as well. In practice the Elysion looks way different than the SDF-3.
>and have a semi-recessed bridge in the middle where other Macross ships have towers that are prominently sticking out.
The Elysion's bridge is upright. Just shorter. This is my first time looking Robotech ship designs, and man, they sure are not good-looking.
>>14262205
honestly though, Misa\Hikaru did kind of come out of nowhere to be honest, so this is hardly unheard of for MacrossAnd no, I'm not a Hikaru/minmay fag. Episode 27 was the definate end to the triangle. I'm just saying it came relatively unannounced and clicked

GOAT
>>14262179
>But Quarter had the two hulls offset
Elysions' Aethers are offset, whereas what little art exists of the SDF-3 in either configuration has a closely-connected twin hull design.
>Nothing official ~/
The speculation about the Elysion being a bridging design is not without reason. Most have noted:
- the legs resemble both the Battle/Quarter designs, yet the thigh section retains the blocky aesthetics of the SDF type.
- the Battle-class have torso hangar entrances, whereas the Quarter types don't - like the earlier SDF type.
- that the colonization of Ragna and nearby planets was done with very early fleets; Ragna's colonization was done by a very early New Macross fleet, the strategic fleet configuration that first introduced the Battle-class Macross types.
>But compared to the way the other Macross ships are designed ~/
A single bow with its main features being separable parts. Also, as noted before, the Elysion closely resembles the Quarter, which smashes any pre-notion of its design being alien to Macross.
>7 had two hangars ~/
The torso of 7, Frontier, Galaxy, 5, and 13 all had hangar entrances. It's a feature of the Battle-class. Additional turrets placed upon the top deck near the bridge are unique to Frontier/Galaxy as of now.
>When I say it's weird at the back ~/
The impression of a recessed bridge is likely your eyes being tricked by the Elysion's back prongs compared to its Battle-class contemporaries, where the head is the highest object available only because it has no back attachments. Elysion has a unique transformation, but its hull configuration is still nowhere near the SDF-3's beyond the most basic of layout classifications, shared by the Quarter. Both the Quarter/Elysion have splayed engines; the SDF-3's overall profile is nowhere near that wide apart.
I still maintain that this is just an expected coincidence rather than "reverse design-stealing", and I am looking through very loose criteria for "coincidence" here.

That's the sort of thing that'll happen to Mirage. brought up a failed love, which, having not yet seen the episode given that I don't speak Moon, I assumed meant a past love, because this one can't possibly be failed since even if Hayate doesn't feel the same it's not yet failed since the show is still in progress. Even then Rex (a) doesn't die and (b) isn't a main character, so she hardly counts. It should also be noted that Miss chooses Hikaru in the original well before he chooses her thanks to the show's extension and that Sheryl declared her intentions to Alto early in the show, while he's hospitalised. Ranka declared at the same time, but so did Sheryl. It means essentially nothing.

I dunno, her choosing to stand still and pray her shields hold instead of maneuver and almost get herself killed only to be saved in the nick of time by a pilot that can actually do something seems to speak against that assertion. Just stood there and let Hayate shoot her in the training session, too, despite seeing him move into position.
She might as well be irrelevant, too, for what little she's been given so far.

It's true, though. They are both aces from different races and opposing sides and one has a hateboner for the other, they even had a knife fight this episode. The similarities between them are evident.
I'm not saying this in a "they will end up together" sense, just that their relationship is very similar to the rivalry Max and Milia had before they fell in love.

Red is one of Freyja's colors (red and yellow) in promos.
Hayate is blue.
Mirage is purple.
Mirage herself drew a parallel of her grandparents to Hayate and Freyja.
>>14265724
That's a flashback.
>>14266136
Mikumo wants to scissor Freyja and /ss/ Heinz. She only gives a shit about Hayate when she ships him with Freyja.
>>14266123
First, Mirage's BF isn't red.
None of that made them Milia and Max. Mirage is a shit tier damsel in distress and a jobber pilot, from the same side of Hayate, his senpai, and she doesn't want to kill him. She's the complete opposite to Milia.
There are two aspects of Max and Milia: they are ace pilots of opposite sides (covered by Messer and Keith), and that they are members of two species at war with each other, so their union is symbolic as a bridge to understanding (covered by Hayate and Freyja, and Mirage was the one who brought this up in comparison to her grandparents).
Mirage and Hayate might end up together, but there are zero "parallels" to Max and Milia.

Technically he also killed off Sara and Shin in Zero, since they both ended up in deep space in a short-range fighter mecha.

>>14267229
>Mirage is disappointing as fuck, as usual.
I'm actually annoyed by this, I mean can't they at least make her somewhat useful instead of what she is so far, I assume delta squad is some sort of elite unit that selects its members because they have a higher level of competency so why have her be useless compared to the rest of the team?
>>14267224
What did he mean with this?did i miss something? I hope is explained later
>>14267249
Yeah, Delta Squadron is supposed to be some of the best because they have the job of protecting literally the only cure against the Ver. Hayate gets in on essentially a provisional basis due to his raw talent. Arad and Messer are skilled hardcore pilots. Chuck is at least competent, probably the best ace on Ragna where they're all based. But then you have Mirage, and she's total shit all the time. It's like she got in solely based on her name.
The show is 8 episodes in and Mirage is still dragging her feet. I feel like if they're not careful it could get to a point where Mirage finally straightens up and reveals her emotional baggage and whatever and it's too late, everyone is already tired of her bullshit by then.
Meanwhile every episode Freyja keeps getting better and better. It's going to be EVOL levels of anal bleeding if Mirage wins the Hayatebowl.
>>14267256
No you didn't. I'm sure it will be explained later
>>14267262
what's worse is Mirage is an experienced pilot but she's said to be a by the book pilot, it's as if they picked her up from NUNS because they saw a potential in her but then she failed to meet it.

Pretty sure it's supposed to be reminiscent of Imperial Japan and their propaganda about how the Co-Prosperity Sphere was just 'protecting Asia from European colonialism' by being everything they claimed they were 'protecting' their victims from.
>>14267312
Did it all just go over your head or are you just an idiot
Fuck, I love Freyja.
She's naive, but she's so endearing. She tries her hardest, she's brave, she loves singing, and she's very determined. Best MC since Basara. Hayate is great too, if a little flat at the moment. He's great when he works with Freyja though
>>14267348
Hayate so far hasn't really had any development. There's not much there other than that he's got sick talent and he's a bit of a free spirit.
Honestly, I just hope they don't try too hard with him, like they did with Alto, who was bland but then they tried to spice him up with three or so plotlines that ultimately went nowhere and he was still a wishy-washy jerk at the end of the series, same as when he started.
>>14267353

There is some imperial Japan and Zeon in the mixture indeed, but we still can't say on the Belka part since it's unknown who used that DE weaponry.
Otherwise great episode, and so far i'm enjoying Kawamori's ride.
>>14267739
I suspect that Windemere was dicking around with protoculture ruins and accidently blew themselves up, and the King blamed it on the NUN. No one actually dropped any bomb, they just accidently their town and anyone who knew enough to know what actually happened died in the blast.
>>14267851
So they accidentally self-Belka'd themselves?
Plausible, but we will see further in the story what really happened. (Since it does appear to have something to do with the story)
Also, did anybody else notice how Mikumo's hair reacted to the music?
>>14267908
Yeah. I wasn't sure if that was Mikumo herself, or if that was like some kind of interference in her holoclothes.
I am 90% certain at this point that singing back to Heinz through the protoculture ruins is going to be a major plot point, either in the finale or before then. Heinze normally doesn't have any direct connection to the battle, he just sits in his room and sings his little heart out. Having some kind of interaction or feedback there could really through him off his game or even convince him not to fight at all, and if Heinz backs out the war is over for Windemere.
>>14267936
I'm not sure i caught that part, but could it be possible that Freya is also capable to act as Windsinger. To Kawamori's credit i didn't expect on how he strengthened Freya's take in the Hayatebowl.
Still curios when will they reveal what the fuck is Mikumo is. Still guessing on some like a Protodevelin or a mermaid.
>>14267948
The two leading theories is that Mikumo is a cyborg of some kind (like Grace) or something akin to a Protodevlin. She is practically dripping plot importance whatever she is, the real question is whether she will have some big reveal or if she will betray the team.
I hope they avoid the latter. Mikumo going evil would be too predictable.
>>14267960
Again, all to be seen in the continuation of Kawamori's wild ride.
I don't want her to finish the story as evil either, but if there is going to be some wild turnaround it could be interesting.
