I think I had that something going on with some other game.
I think what I did to fix it was loading the game with a new save (after backing up the old one), creating a save state after that just in case, then changing the new save file folder with the old one, and quitting the game (from the pause menu, not actually in-game), and loading it up again.
OE is a bit picky about save files.
Other thing that could go wrong is you not using the right version, mine's from 1.08

So I'm running into troubles trying to make a custom unit for SRC.
I added the statistics in the Robot and Pilot files, and edited the CustomUnits.eve file to have them added at the end of the file, following the example of the other units in the file. And I get this error.

Just finishing Alpha Gaiden now myself and honestly spent way less time babysitting my reals than I did supers. Other than the ones already mentioned, the Wing boy band are all really good as per, especially if you bring more than one. Deathsycthe is the stock answer, but I think Wing Zero should be mandatory as well. There's a bunch of map related SR points and even if there weren't that one stage where you first fight Turn X would make me invest in him alone. If anything can even hit Heero he has prevail and it's really easy to work around the lack of strike and EN problems so he's not a burden or anything.
Also reading a bunch of Japanese unit suggestions they're all in love with the Taurus but I've never actually looked at it myself.

A quick look at their stats tells me that the Taurus has a 1-5 post-move attack that maxes out at 4100, which is the same as the Deathscythe Hell's Beam Scissors, except it costs 335000 instead of 400000 to get there.
