So, it was pretty obvious to me during a recent UC art thread that some people on /m/ have no idea what the MS Era artbook is, which is a shame because it is so damn good.
So, let me go ahead and dump it all here for you all.
Quick note, the images are from the Popular Edition while the caption translations are from the 0099 Edition, so please excuse any discrepancies between the two.

>So, let me go ahead and dump it all here for you all.
By all means, please do.
1) JULY 20, 1969: The Apollo program of NASA, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration of the United States, finally succeeded in sending mankind to the moon. This is the first footprint of mankind on the surface of the moon. Perhaps, this was the true marking of the beginning of the Universal Century.
2) ISLANDS UNDER CONSTRUCTION AT SIDE 3: Island 3 type colonies were expected to solve the population problem, but no one could predict the fact that these very colonies would trigger the new conflict.
3) SPACE MAG: A magazine of the period reporting the birth of the one millionth Spacenoid on Side 2. After the independence of Zeon, the caption "colony" disappeared from the magazine's cover.
4) EMIGRANTS TO THE HIGH WORLDS: At the office of emigration affairs, Venezuela.
5) THE ARCHIPELAGO: Commemorative photograph of the completion of Side 2 (Hatte) colonies taken for public information.
6) AGITATION: Zeon Zum Daikun, the state father of the Republic of Zeon (later the Principality of Zeon).
7) DEGWIN SODO ZABI, AND HIS ELDEST SON, GHIREN ZABI, VISITING ZEON ZUM DAIKUN UNDER MEDICAL TREATMENT: The fact that the two were suspected of the attempted assassination of Zeon Zum Daikun enticed reporters to become so overly zealous that some casualties were caused.
8) THE FUNERAL: Zeon Zum Daikun, the proposer of contolism and the state father of the Principality of Zeon passed away in October 0068. This shows a few close relatives remaining at the site after the funeral ceremony.
9.10) BIRTH OF THE MOBILE SUIT: The fusion of two revolutionary concepts, the space pod (free-flying mobile manipulator) and the AMBAC system resulted in the gigantic anthropomorphous (human-like-form) machine with a height of 10 meters. Its development process was extremely trying. There were various problems in adjusting the auto-balancer to maintain perfect balance to prevent the machine from tumbling over.
11) DR.Y.T.MINOVSKY: The proposer of the Minovsky Theory. As an inevitable consequence of his theory, starting with the MS and other new arms systems, weapons for the Universal Century emerged.
12) KINTZEM: This colony of Side 3 rebelled openly against the anti-federal policy of the Principality of Zeon, but Zeon suppressed them with cruel violence.
13) WOMEN'S WAR: Women volunteers undergoing medical check-up. At the time, 12% of the Federal soldiers were women.
14) MS AND PROSTHETICS: Military technology brings ironic by-products at times. Those who gained the most benefits from the bipedality technology were the handicapped.
15) THE FAME OF ASSASSINS: A photo from a pic.disc which was found in the confidential files of the Zeon forces after the war. Shown here are the collaborators in the failed attempt to assassinate Gihren Zabi. Left to right are; Lieutenant Hans Lawnder, journalist Aleksander Tronner, Dr. Park Kjon Sun, and Politburo member Wasilie Strugatsky. All participants were sentenced to death by a court-martial and executed there at once.
16,17,18) LUCIFER'S FALL, BEFORE AND AFTER: Australia photographed by sat-cam before the British operation (above) and afterwards (below). In this operation Zeons used a space colony as a gigantic bomb. They missed their shot to Jaburo, the Global Headquarters of the Federal Forces, and the stray bullet hit Sydney.
19) FIREWORKS
20) THE BATTLE OF LOUM: Federal warship suffering from a blitz-attack by MS Zaku, a new weapon of Zeon. This action took place nearby Side 5 in the early period of the One Year War and was called the Battle of Loum. It destroyed the old power balance between Federation and Zeon. This event marked the beginning of a new era of space warfare.
21) THE ZABIS: When the family tyrannized over this state, the war began.
22) CEASE-FIRE FOR A MOMENT: At the time the Treaty of the Antarctic was concluded, rumor was circulating among the soldiers of both the Zeon and Federal Forces that the war was coming to an end.
23) MEDAL AWARDING CEREMONY: Many soldiers distinguished themselves at the Battle of Loum. Due to the adoption of the new MS weapon, a large number of young, talented soldiers were honored as ace pilots. But, it was only proof of the exhausted condition of the Zeon Force which had lost many veterans since the British Operation.
24) AIR RAID.
25) GENERAL REVIL: He returned alive from captivity by the Zeon Forces. The miraculous success of his escape raised the morale of the Federals. Later, he participated vigorously in taking initiative in the counteroffensive campaign. He was killed shortly before the Battle of A Baoa Qu.
26) TAKEYARI ATTACK: Federal soldiers making desperate attempts to shoot down the Zeon MS. Prior to the deployment of their own mobile suits (GMs), the Federal infantryman's main arms for anti-MS were nothing but bazookas. Japanese infantrymen scornfully gave them the nickname, Takeyari (Bamboo Spear).
27) HOME LOST.
28) IN THE SUN.
29) KILLING SCORE: As the fighting progressed, more and more Zeon pilots began to stencil kill marks on the torsos of their MS. But because the shoot-down acknowledgement criteria was vague, due to the effect of the Minovsky particle, it was said that the sum of Zeon's killing score exceed the total number of the GM that the Federals actually possessed.
30) ACROSS THE RIVER, THROUGH THE WOODS: In February 0079, Zeon MSs met Federal force's counterattack while executing a river fording operation at Heidelberg, Germany. Prior to the distribution of Zeon amphibious MSs, Federal Forces often carried out water edge operations. After this two-weeks battle the bridge fell with the considerable sacrifice of 23,000 Federal and 7,000 Zeon casualties.
31) OCCUPIED PARIS.
32) MARCHING ON: Seeing the gigantic human type machine for the first time, the refugees all seem apprehensive.
33) THE DAY ZEON OCCUPIED NEW YORK: Federals took more than 8 months to liberate New York and to secure the Statue of Liberty again.
34) FRONT: Zeon ground troops marching near Poznan, Poland. March 0079.
35) TO AND FRO.
36) REST: First Private Lee Huai Kun listened to the radio at full volume, smoked, and drank whisky from a flask while looking at a men's magazine.
37) COMPRADOR: In Bourgogne Province, immediately after the occupation of Paris. A Zeon officer admiring vintage wine which was quite valuable in the space colonies. Is the man standing next to him from the occupied village?
38) ROLL-OUT: Completed Zaku ready to be deployed at Zeon's arsenal in North America.
39) Z-SYMPS: Several Zeon Sympathizers were arrested by Federal Securities for violation of the Public Order Act. Even after the liberation of Europe, underground activities of Contolists continued. This photograph was taken by one of the contolist activists and publicized in a Zeon newspaper with an article condemning Federals for its oppression.
40) SEARCH AND RESCUE.
41) HELIUM CONVOY OF ZEON IN JOVIAN ORBIT: Under the conditions and terms decided by the Treaty of Antarctic, mutual nonaggression was agreed upon for the collection and transportation of helium 3, the propellant for space vehicles.
42) SURVIVORS: The funeral of Sergeant Nestor Macond, Zeon Forces.
43) PROPAGANDA: Children's hero, Captain Zeon. The story tells that Captain Zeon punished 768 feddies, 42 secret agents, and 15 fed-sympathizers.
44) SHOULDER ARMS!
45) A BIG HAND.
46) EYE IN THE SKY: Zeon Space Engineer Corps dismantling the Federal's surface reconnaissance satellite.
47) LIPSTICK.
48) TOMCAT IN SEASON: Since there were hardly any dogs or cats in the high worlds, it became in fashion among Zeon soldiers to keep them as pets. Some of them even took their pets with them in the MS while advancing to their next destination.
49) CRYING.
50) FIVE CARDS.
51) A BATHING GIRL.
52) FLOWER WREATH.
53) REQUIEM: Tombstone of an unidentified Zeon soldier on the moon.
54) SOLDIERS AND FLOWERS: Photographer unidentified. It may have been taken immediately after the Rhine fording operation.
55) SUMMER.
56) LIEUTENANT GENERAL NGUEN VAO HAI: His arrival at Milan Air Force Base.
57) THE WHITE ONE: Photographed at the site of the battle between Federals and Zeons at Side 7. It seemed that Federals had already begun to deploy MS for action. MS used here was said to be a prototype.
58) GARMA ZABI: High ranking Zeon officers amused themselves by attending extravagant parties even during the war. The young man shown here is Garma, the fourth son of Sovereign Degwin. The lady accompanying him is said to be the daughter of the ex-mayor of New Yark.
59) BURNING RAGE: The news of Garma, the fourth son of Sovereign Degwin Zabi, being killed in action was publicly announced by the eldest brother, Gihren Zabi. It could be that his angry speech was intended to raise the nation's fighting spirit, and his speech was broadcasted twice throughout the earth-moon system.
60) MS PILOT CADETS IN CALIFORNIA.
61) DEATH.
62) WARTIME GRAFFITIES.
63) A BOY CLIMBING A SIGN POLE
64) FAREWELL: In the latter days of the One Year War, many young adults were drafted for the research of so-called new-type psionics, but it was nothing but a kind of human trafficking. This picture may have been taken by her friend.
65) AMBUSH: A federal MS with a wood-camouflage net. Probably a sniper.
66) CAPTURED MATERIALS.
>>14240327
This never showed up in anything, right? Thunderbolt uses the concept, but it didn't feel like the same thing.
67) BREAK TIME: The shortage of labor resulting from the mass production of Federal MS "GM" was improved by a massive commitment of women operators.
68) THE SECRET WEAPON: During the latter days of the war Zeon Forces completed many new MSs, but almost all of them were incomplete prototypes.
>>14240668
No, it's just fun little pieces of world events.
69) IRREGULARS OF FEDERAL FORCES: A snapshot of the White Base crew. The boy at the far right was the Ace of the Federal Forces, Pilot Officer Amuro Ray. The woman officer in the center was First Lieutenant Matilda Ajan of the Supply Corps. Soon after this moment, she was killed in action.
70) BODY DISFIGURED: The deadman on the ground was perhaps the pilot of this Zaku.
71) HY-GOGG THE AMPHIBIOUS: A video image taken by a defensive surveillance camera at Jaburo the Global Headquarters of the Federal Forces. Many types of amphibious MS were introduced during Zeon's frequent attacks on Jaburo.
72) A PORTRAIT: This instant photo was left on the battlefield. There is no way of knowing whether the picture had been kept by her father or her boyfriend.
I like it, but why are all the Zaku's the Zaku II kai variant?
73) SNOWY FIELD: Zeon soldiers taking a rest in Ardenne, November 0078.
74) A PRESENT FROM FEDDIES: The MS seen at the center was originally a Federal MS. The use of captured enemy MS was practiced frequently.
75) BELFAST, IRELAND.
>>14240708
Dunno, but there's HyGogg, GM Command heads and a couple pics from the 0080 ED so there's a connection somewhere.
76) ON THE WAY HOME FROM SCHOOL.
77) LIBERATION OF LIVERPOOL.
78) ATTACK ON MADRID.
79) FREE FLIGHT.
>>14240668
It shows up in 0080 actually. This entire artbook uses 0080's designs for everything.
Doing God's work OP.
80) ROAD TO THE SKY.
81) GM HEAD.
82) DESCENT TO JABURO: The Anthropological Research Team of San Fernando State University encountered Zeon's airborne operation to Jaburo, during their field survey. They say that natives thought these giants from the sky were sent by the devil, and tried to eliminate them with bows and arrows.
83) GM QUEEN: A triumphal mood was high among Federal soldiers after the battle of A Baoa Qu.
84) A GIRL BY A LAKE: A photograph taken near a lake in Side 6. December 0079.
>>14240754
Where did that show up? I don't remember it at all.
85) Zeon's space port in California, December 4th year 0079.
86) BLIZZARD.
87) LAUNCHING OF MS SQUADRON.
88) ASCENT OF SPACE ARMADA: The fleet of Federal Forces was boosted upward, leaving gigantic white columns of streaks beneath themselves.
89) A BIG TROPHY: Side 6. December 20, 0079.
90) FAKE: A photograph published to raise the morale of the Zeon forces during the latter period of the war. The liberation of Solomon was never covered by the media to inform the Zeon people. The photograph might have been a composite picture.
91) WOUNDED: At the last days of the war, the battle front expanded to Side 6, which had declared its neutrality. A woman pilot being rescued from a wrecked Federal prototype MS after fighting with a Zaku. Most likely, the woman pilot being rescued here is the same person in Fig. 60.;_;
92) A BAOA QU THE ASTEROID FORTRESS: The defeat of this battle sliced off most of the fighting potential of the Zeon Forces. Zeon's war for independence, which had lasted about one year, came to an end with the fall of A Baoa Qu.
93) REFLECTIONS: The Solar Ray System turned out to be an ace in the hole for the Federal Forces in the Star One Campaign. This gigantic solar reactor was made of several million mirrors, following the example set by Archimedes accomplishment.
The thought of who wrote this has only occured to me just now
Do not say Hajime Yatate
94) SURRENDER Pt.1: Demobilization of surrendered Zeon space fleet by Federal soldiers. December 25, 0079.
95) ASLEEP IN THE AIR.
96) THE LAST SORTIE: Zeon space fleet cruising under the escort of MS troops.
97) SUICIDE FOR HIS MAJESTY.
>>14240708
seems there was a bit of a stab taken at retconning everything to the 0080 designs around its time, like those Newtype pages and stuff
>>14240850
I think there's irl credits as well as in-universe credits, I'll try to check my copy of MS Era 0099 in a few days.
98) WAR IS OVER Pt.1.
99) WAR IS OVER Pt.2: All liquor in town was sold out at the news of Zeon's surrender.
100) THE BRITISH METEOR SWARM
101) SURRENDER Pt.2: Women officers of Zeon surrendered. The women on the left, Cecilia Irene, was the chief secretary to Commander Gihren.
102) SURRENDER Pt.3: A Yukon class submarine of the Zeon forces surrendered to a Federal craft off the coast of of Adelaid, Australia.
103) ICONOCLASM: The statues of Zabi, erected in various places in the Zeon colonies, were all demolished by citizens and Federal soldiers after the termination of the war.
104) HOLIDAY: A suburb of Albery, Australia. The lake was formed after the British Operation, the dropping of a space colony.
>NOTE: In the original 0099 Edition, the previous photo #104 was actually #105. This photo was the original #104. It is unknown why this photo was removed from the Popular Edition.
104) THE BRIDGE: The girl standing on top on the head of the destroyed and abandoned Zaku is the favorite model (Photo: 51, 52) of Kumiko Fentess, the photographer of this picture. Reflection of Kumiko Fentess appears on the mono-eye of the Zaku. At first, the girl may appear to be the subject of this photograph, but due to the highly calculated positioning of her reflection, we have interpreted this picture as Kumiko Fentess's self-portrait.
>END
OP=God. Thank you sir, I had no idea this collection existed (as you correctly stated in your post).
This was a nice read OP. Shame that it goes against canon by having the FZ instead of the regular Zaku 2. And also according to that English translated Zaku Developers manga I believe that the OG Zaku may have been one of the original units if not the first. I can't remember but it's short and enjoyable.
>>14240929
Isn't that the bridge in Battle In Three Dimensions?
>>14241188
Probably.
>>14240792
It's a small scene where Al talks with a researcher about how MS technology has helped prosthetics, IIRC just before the Kampfer attack.
>>14240708

Probably just a similar looking bridge. The buildings and shit look to be of a European style of architecture on the far shore, so I would think it unlikely that this photo would be set in some jungle shithole in south-east Asia.

>>14240875
I think all of the 0080 designs except Alex and Kampfer were meant to be redesigns rather than new designs, but Bandai has to work it in somehow so they all became "variants". The didn't know better to just have "0080 Ver" back then.
Also for maximum feels looking through the images:

That's what I've heard as well.
>>14240676
it's a shame that this Zakrello variant never got used anywhere
>>14240714
it's also a shame that the only time we ever see Zeon use captured Federation equipment is in post Zeta series, and that mostly is of Suits that already look like Zeon stuff
>>14240825
Big Zam looking rather fierce here(also love how the Federation in this book is constantly trying to claim that Newtypes are a myth and that Zeon's Mobile Armors were either incomplete prototypes or fake)

So, which version would I be better off buying if I only want to get one?
Do they have the same captions?
>>14242478
The first version (I believe it's called "MS Era") has rough English captions and some minor differences in the pictures.
The second version ("MS Era 0099") goes through and cleans up the English. I've got that one. That's what the transcripts come from.
The most recent version ("MS Era Popular Edition") has the captions for the first time (afaik) in Japanese. That's what these scans are.
I have 0099. No clue how it goes on the secondary market, but it's a nice version. Classy hardbound book.

How close
Why are a lot of these photos in black and white or without color?
UC takes place far ahead of our own time and we have 4K ultra HD color photos that can be taken with a pencil! What gives?
>>14242815
The same reason why we still have photos in black and white even though everyone has a camera in their pocket: Stylistic choice.
>>14242847
But in a war senario, in the middle of battle, or for reconnaissance, why would anyone 'choose' a black and white filter. That's just silly....
>>14242873
A true artist is always thinking about style, no matter the situation or circumstances.
Aren't artists like..anti-war or something? No real artist would be caught dead among the ranks of Federation or Zeon.
And besides, it's more artistic to capture the a moment in its fullest form, color and all.
I think these pictures are inconsistent with the lore of UC...
Shenanigans!
>>14243012
Half of humanity's population was lost in the first months of fighting. I doubt some wimpy artists would survive that.

That's a Zaku I, isn't it? The Zaku II Kai from 0080 used in most of these don't have any of the dividers in the mono-eye area, while the normal Zaku II has them only in the corners of the camera area and the Zaku I has them in the corners and in the middle

>>14251329
That was apparently the intention with all the new designs from 0080.
-MP Guncannon was meant to be a replacement for the Guncannon if we go by an SD Gundam short
-Gelgoog J replacing the Gelgoog
-Zaku Kai replacing Zaku II
-GM Sniper II was probably replacing the GM Sniper (this one isn't as clear cut as the others, but it was probably the intention)

For context, this is Char and Dozle Zabi, the former being awarded a medal by the latter.
This also marks Char's promotion to the rank of Captain within the Principality's forces.

> none of the Federation's mobile suit creation process was privatized.
open source development huh?
that's hard to credit someone's work on EF MS dev, except Tem Ray.
>>14251619
I'm probably thinking of the origin, but doesn't it get stated somewhere in the back matter that Zeon relied on AE for mass production of their MS's (specifically the electronic control schemes?)
>>14251726
As far as I know, it was all in-house by the military. They captured the Zeonic MS, they got engineers (like Tem Ray) enlisted, and developed in secret. Considering the circumstances, I wouldn't have trusted a company to do that either.
>>14252425
I think it was only the electronic control schemes, although that does mean that they relied on them. I don't think that they had any further involvement during the OYW though.

Fun Fact: the Plot to Assassinate Gihren manga used that failed assassination attempt as a plot point. The entire manga itself is basically Operation Valkyrie: Zeon Version.
>>14244982
No, I'm offended. Woman are proven to be just as predatory as men.
>>14240439
Whoa, whoa, whoa, hold up a second
What fucking tanks are those?

>>14263975
She's a willing model, anon, it's fine.
>>14264340
Naw
They sorta look like more rounded Merkavas
>>14243920
Got a link? I could only find an online gallery and everything's out of order.
>>14265661
I probably have a copy somewhere. I'll see what I can find.
Also I figured out which hard drive the photos should be on, so I might get those up in a few days.
>>14240282
This one always fucks with me. Long lines, miserable faces, and very little baggage?
Mass deportation. The Spacenoids are right to hold a grudge.

This is fucking great

Probably because Kumiko Fentess is a real pen name.
what are these autistic captions lmao
shitty story telling

What's the problem with them?

almost every airport in almost every country
>>14266088
It is? Strange, and they couldn't just change it?
>>14266285
It's literally fan fic
>>14266349
But it's officially licensed and released by Bandai
>>14266349
What about them is autistic or fan fictional?
>>14266370
It's like if I make something like this it's cringe shit. But they make something exactly like my content and it's praised.
>>14266454
The truth is that it doesn't matter if it's official or fanfic or canon or notcanon, as long as it's good.
People judge fanfic because 99% of it is shit (also no editors or revisions...), but 99% of EVERYTHING is shit.
Once you stop caring about canon, you'll start finding awesome sit everywhere.
>>14266454
In what ways are they similar though? That's just describing a reaction. Do you have some examples of your own fanfic to compare to the art book?
>>14264258
>>14264340
>>14264452
Magella Eins?
>>14266478
Fucking sweet
Why have I never seen them before? What series are they in?
>>14266480
IGLOO 2: Gravity Boogaloo
>>14266480
MS Igloo 2. I'm not sure though, because as far as I can find, the Magella Eins was said to have first appeared in MS Igloo 2 and MS Era predates MS Igloo 2. Could just be vaguely similar designs.
>>14266370
Not him, but it kind of bothers me how hard a lot of these are trying to evoke a WWII war journalism album. The minimalism, sentimental captions, the realism, the amount of geographic parallels to WWII. I don't know how you could make this product without making me feel that, but I can't wave the feeling away.
Also, I'm not sure if this book can be canon to Gaia Gear. Strike two.
>>14266518
OYW was always a WWII analogue in quite a few ways.
>>14266527
Of course, but I wasn't too big on it even when I first watched First Gundam. And all the funky disco music helped to make it feel like something different than WWII-in-space.
The analogues were a little charming at first, in small doses, but I think over time the successive OYW installments have dwelled on them too much.
>>14266518
>OYW is basically space!WWII and Zeeks are extremely obviously German inspired, and in Gihren's case in-universe inspired
>0080 pushes this theme even harder with the German names everywhere, 5 kills = an ace, Zeon accent, Zaku II Kai's alternate helmet, more panzerfausts for every MS, blonde haired blue eyed Bernie, etc
>MS Era is based on 0080 but it shouldn't look like WWII journalism
Okay
>>14266542
Well, there you go. Why did 0080 have to start naming all these Zeon weapons German names? Why not continue with vaguely-not-Japanese nonsense names like Z'Gok and Gelgoog?
They took something present in First Gundam and made it bigger than it originally was. IGLOO continued the trend. I'd rather they kept the WWII influence to 0079-levels, or even decreased it. That's my opinion—oh, but I guess I didn't just say I didn't like it, I implicitly said it seemed autistic or fan-fictional, by replying to >>14266370.
Well, still, yeah, expanding the parallels to WWII beyond what the original work contained, to obnoxious degrees; that's the sort of thing people associate with fan-fiction. It's similar to "Flanderization". And that's my complaint towards both this M.S. Era book as well as IGLOO and 0080. This book takes it a lot farther than 0080, though.
>>14266576
Oh, so it's just
>I don't like this official product, so it's fanfiction
>>14266585
I never said it was fan-fiction because I don't like it. I said I didn't like it because it seemed like fan-fiction.
I said it was fan-fiction because it conflicts with Gaia Gear. Well, it might.
Depends on when Paris got hit with colony debris and turned into a lake, and whether that debris came from Operation British or a never-before-portrayed second successful colony drop, and whether or not that Arc de Triomphe draped in Zeon flags is the original Arc de Triomphe, or the rebuilt Arc de Triomphe mentioned in the radio drama.
>>14266598
Gaia Gear is in the sketchy "probably not canon but likely to never be mentioned again because Bandai only jerks it to the OYW" zone. Even if it did, a discontinuity doesn't make it fan fiction.
Still, you're claiming that it's fan fiction-like simply because it's similar to 0080? That's not a very strong argument when 0080 is canon.
>>14266638
I was joking about Gaia Gear.
0080 is my favorite OVA, and among my favorite installments of any form. I love 0080. Its plot and characters aren't fan-fictiony by any means. There're just these few aspects here and there I don't like as much.
Same with this book. The pictures are pretty. And I'm not going to "complain" about more Gundam. I like it more than I dislike it. But I can't deny there's an aspect I don't like.
This guy (>>14266092) criticized the book. This guy (>>14266285) wanted to know what there is to criticize. The first guy didn't give a very good explanation. I thought the second guy would be interested to hear a specific criticism about an otherwise decent book, so I provided mine, for the sake of discussion.
>That's not a very strong argument when 0080 is canon.
0080 is official, but that doesn't mean it can't feel like fan-fiction. Even if we had a Gundam story produced by the same exact team that produced First Gundam, they could still manage to make a show that seemed like fan-fiction. I'm sure I can think of an example from literature if I think long enough... a case where a single author's series goes to crap because the author abruptly gives everyone a happy ending, or turns a favorite character into a Mary Sue, or decides the series is going to become an ideological soap box.
The Force Awakens was official, but parts of it felt like fan-fiction. Macross II didn't have Kawamori and those guys, but most people considered it official at the time because they think corporate ownership of IP is what determines what's official. And Macross II might've seemed like fan-fiction, right?
>>14266690
I guess I see what you're saying but "fan fiction" was probably not the best way to describe it.
>>14240259
IIRC some anon posted this years ago, and I mean years ago so it's kinda normal most new people on /m/ dunno aboot it
>>14266783
The individual images are reposted, at minimum, weekly. I wasn't here back then but I've known what it was for some time.
>>14266783
yeah, people probably don't know about gundam fix box either
it's an set of gundam art, first part is gundam art digitally composited into photos of real life location shots and etc, so old that none of the scans I have are larger than 1000x1000, and this is mostly late 1990s or early 2000s image compositing
second part is (most? all?) katoki art that I haven't seen posted here too often, covering victory, G, and wing.

For what reason would they have fucking winter in the colonies?
Why would they build that in?
>>14266803
Do you wanna post some more? It looks good.
>>14266822
Gets boring, humans are naturally acclimated to deal with seasonal changes, syncs with Earth, and it's actually not that hard to do.
>>14266803
Why does Nobel have white hair?
>>14266822
emulating the seasons helps humans psychologically feel more at home in a metal tube, and it might be better or even necessary for some of the plant life inside the colony to live normally
they don't need to recreate snowstorms, just light snowfall and it wouldn't be much of a problem, no real need to clear it away
stuff like thunder and lightning isn't necessary though, and that stuff doesn't exist in a colony's artificial weather system. hence ramba ral's troops getting fucking scared of thunder and lightning having grown up in an environment where it just didn't exist for both them and probably their parents' and grandparents' generations of colonists
>>14266857
I dunno, they messed up probably
>>14266850
Sure, not all of it looks great, but I'll pick and choose some that I think are the better ones.
>>14266863
>>14266878
The more I look at these, the more depressed I get that they're not available in high res. They would make for decent wallpapers.
>>14266857
Nobel's hair only turns blonde when it's powered up.
>>14266881
>>14266882
No, even before the start of a match it's blonde. When the berserker mode starts up, the machine is surrounded in a red aura but the hair stays blonde.
