Rob-Tech is lie !! in 1985, American company had cut and mixed with different(completely irrelevant) three Japanese animes then they renamed it ROB-TECH. Robotech is a stagnant dead franchise while macross is vibrant with life and development, not too surprising given that there's no creative force behind HG.

But no, the japanese gives no fucks about what happens outside japan. Kawamori himself obviously has his qualms because he knows there are a lot of western fans of his work.
