It's literally just a faster jetpack than Great's inbuilt one. He fought a mechabeast that was outflying Great so they built Great Booster for him to keep up with it. That's it. It's just a worse Jet Scrander. SRW never makes sense out of it, he always uses it for ramming attacks and the only time THAT made sense was with Mazinkaiser's giant ramming platform Great Booster.

It sounds like it should be an upgrade to the Great Mazinger, rather than an attack. But I guess making a permanent upgrade of a one shot item would be too much, so they made it a random attack.

It's not really an upgrade though. >14246580 is right, it was introduced as a mechanic to give Great Mazinger more speed to defeat a motw. For last fourth of a series after it was introduced though it becomes the standard finishing move, replacing Mazinger Blade.
