i actually prefer the gold on the old 1/100 HG, its kind of like the Hyaku Shiki 2.0 but not as evenly applied. ill give them a pass since it was 1993 and the very first gundam with gold plated parts (that i know of), the shiny gold on the expo HG is a little too blingy on anything but the clear kit.

In a way, they're pretty much the same.
On the other hand gunpla always has a sense of fragility, you can fuck around with the arms of most action figures and be fine apart from wear and tear but you can easily break certain parts on models.
The hg doven wolf's antenna taught me the difference.
The point of the revive line is a bunch of things, articulation, interchangeability with other model parts for customs (as in minimal need for modifications, slap on the completed sections), and just a remake of an older model that has come before to better match anime appearances.

I'm happy Hyaku Shiki is getting a revive. can't say many of the ones I want are actually getting those.zeta byarlant for example
I personally like the Revive version. The proportions fit more in line with the MG 2.0. I think they skipped out on the gold plating this time around to keep the price down (like other anons have said) and to make it easier paint it in different schemes. If it had the gold plating you would first have to strip it off so paint could better adhere to plastic. Plus I think it encourages people to paint it in their preferred shade of gold if they want to keep the color scheme.
I see nothing wrong with this thread, but it could stand to have more gold.
