On the plus side, X-O will eventually release the event units in other places... but not the exact ones given in the events.
There's Lancelots, Gunbusters, Sazabis, King J-Ders, Jet Scrander Mazinger Zs, and one or two other event units floating about that aren't tied to their original event, but the units from the events themselves are entirely impossible to get, and there's a delay on the new ones coming out. In Final? No idea, but Kaiser is better.
In Alpha 1? Kaiser is slightly stronger, and has more range (up to 6, Powered still only has 5) as well as a better theme, but Powered has much, MUCH cheaper attacks - Fire Blaster is 50 and the MAP is 100, but Breast Fire is 20 and the MAP is 30 - and also has more range on the attacks that matter (like 1-3 on Breast Fire). It also gets Daisharin Rocket Punch, a free, 1-5 P Move that's close to Breast Fire and Fire Blaster in final power. So Powered is technically better, but it's the secret unit of the two so that's expected.
In Alpha Gaiden? You get both anyway. Mazinkaiser is by far the better unit, but Powered Mazinger isn't outright horrible since it still has Mazinpower and is available for upgrades from the start, so you can make use of that.
In the later Alphas, it's basically the same as Alpha Gaiden. Alpha 2 added the mostly useless Final Dynamic Special (thanks, I'm sure GETTER G is the mech I'll be taking to the end, not Shin Getter), while Alpha 3 added some combos with Great Mazinger, so that's cool.

This is it pretty much, the entire team has gathered, minus Anya and Setsuko, now I don't have to worry about saving cash for newcomer units.
So far everyone's been pretty solid except Xabungle, Dominator and Ennil in the Leopard, they've been lacking, Canaria, who's basically permabenched, and Sara who just now's been leeching off LV99 units to become a Hopebot.
Saisei is just NOT the game you'd do a challenge run for that's not no upgrades, and even then, it's kinda iffy.

I use the Airmaster over the other chumps every run, wanted a change of pace, and I already dumped some upgrades on it, so I can't back down.
Leopard is not what you'd call BAD, but its weapon set is a god damn mess, and really ammo crippled, it tries too hard to compete with Heavyarms and is completely outclassed by it, in every area, even the pilots available for it are better.
Just look at this piece of shit., if I manage to get a hold of enough cash to fully upgrade all my units (which is around 22~23), I'll just dump it for Airmaster.

It is SO weird that the classic games seem to enjoy making you pick between the original villains of the game and the Divine Crusaders when they do routes.
