>Kaneko says that Force is something that builds up with fear, when you're in danger. Regular enemies just die to normal attacks so it's mainly for bosses. It's a system they came up with solely for Ashley- Letting him just transform right off the bat would be equivalent to Ultraman starting a fight with his specium ray.
Wait, wasn't the Force bar in the first game too?
>>14235160
Oops, misinterpreted the line because I'd forgotten that it was in 1. Fixed.
>>14235158
Shame, which makes me hate them even more.
>>14235158
There's a difference?
>>14235191
That's probably not the reason. If he wanted to make more, he'd make more. Working on another show wouldn't stop him, since he could simply work between seasons, or if necessary alongside seasons. Sure, it might slow down one or both, but if he wanted to make it, he wouldn't really care. Creators work on multiple properties in succession or even simultaneously on a regular basis.
>>14235158
It's more Sony's desire to make a new Wild Arms than it is Kaneko's at this point, I believe. He probably does want to make one anyways, but he's got enough on his hand working on seasons 4 and 5.
>>14235240
He seems to have a habit of losing interest in hiw\s works and randomly getting a shitload of inspiration all of a sudden. Hell, he was planning on ending Symphogear with GX until he got drive for it again during production all of a sudden. It stands to reason his nostalgia boner will suddenly go full mast for Wild Arms too.
Media Vision hiring for a PS4 RPG which may or may not be Wild Arms

>>14235051
TE likes WA?
>>14235252
If the slide in quality the show has taken series by series is any indication he should have finished with GX. It wouldn't be ending on a high note, but at least it'd be over. Unless he gets a burst of creative juice, season 4 and 5 will be fairly terrible if the slide continues.
>>14235302
That's been known for quite a while. You should have seen him rant about ACF's translation troubles (apparently they were going to fix the names from the original, turn "Zeikfried" back into Siegfried and stuff, but the fans went NOT MUH until they stopped)

>Kaneko says that Force is something that builds up with fear, when you're in danger. Regular enemies just die to normal attacks so it's mainly for bosses.
This explains why the boss music leans toward sounding creepy/heavy than rpg stand bloodpumping rockin' boss music.
>>14235334
Does PS4 have an activity log type thing? WA3's ingame timer only counts time running around/in battles. The game was fucking long and I'd like to know the actual time spent playing rather than what it tells you.
>The interview ends with Kaneko using half a page to talk about how he plans making Wild Arms 3 a baseball game.
>>14235334
I need to finish my replay of 3. I got through the Guardian Lords then put down the game because I didn't feel like rearranging and distributing them all and sort of just forgot about it for a while from there.
>>14235333
Did I hear my name?
>>14235336
And while the boss battle theme builds up, the normal battle music is front-heavy. The team knew you'll blitz through random encounters so they shouldn't wait until music gets to the good part.It also sounds kinda like Guren no Yumiya but everyone probably noticed that already. WA2 was two decades before AoT anyway
>>14235403

What's wrong with 4 again?
Is it because they introduced the HEX?
>Regarding the encounter cancel system: Kaneko notes that people who don't like battles just run from them, but thinks that it's silly that they have to do that because it's not that they actually want to run from battles, but that they don't want to get into them in the first place. The encounter cancel system was made for such people. The coin continue system was something that came as natural to the developers, as most of the people on the staff love arcade shooters and fighters. Kaneko doesn't like how you can't use all the characters in your party at the same time, and would've liked all the characters taking on Ragu O Ragula together, but hardware limitations meant only three party members could be displayed at any one time.
I don't think Wild Arms 2 gets near enough credit

You know 5 wasn't my favorite by a long shot but seeing all the cameos of other characters living not shitty lives sure was nice
>>14235594
Consoles as dedicated gaming machines were better than PCs up until the last few gens because of specialization.
Now Sony and Microsoft are just making watered down PCs and Nintendo is being Nintendo.
Go be retarded somewhere else.
Best Wild Arms?
>>14235787
2 or 3.
I'm personally partial to 1. Doesn't have particularly unique systems, but on the other hand there also weren't as many ways to break the game's difficulty in half as there were in 2/3.
>>14235787
I tend to flip flop between the second and third ones myself depending on my mood.
4 and 5 are alright, I like the HEX system fine it's pretty fun but plot and character wise they're a good deal weaker. 4 especially feels "low budget"
>>14235806
It's funny how ACF feels way better overall but also brings in some crazy ways to game break were you once couldn't. You get Gatling Raid like a third of the game in and story bosses from that point onwards all die in one, two shots.
Then again, I guess 1 had a more solid gameplay base because the gameplay was also more basic. It was essentially your generic RPG system+the force gauge (and Rudy having ammo-based specials I guess, but that's kind of a reminder of DnD style spells like in FF1). Later games tried to add more original stuff and every time it broke the game (personal skills, Gatling, Intrude, all fun stuff)
>>14235787
1 hasn't aged well and is literally duwang.
2 has great gameplay, setting, and story, but also has a pretty bad translation. Graphics haven't aged well either.
3 has aged pretty well but the story and setting aren't as interesting as 2. Has a decent translation however.
Alter Code F is a full remake of 1 that is vastly improved in all ways, including translation, but unfortunately the duwang names were kept because retarded fans protested "name changes".
4 and 5 are alright but a massive departure from the previous games. They still have their moments but almost everyone agrees that they're not just as good as 1-3.
XF is just weird.
Billy, the man in the wheelchair, who's the real hero of Slayheim.

>>14235969Yeah, the Venom Snake angle got muddled in the English version by the godawful translation.
>>14235969
It's not hard at all to deduce even in the shitty translation
rylcmm (reevaluate your life choices, my man)
>>14235969
Yeah they swapped names.
The duwang is pretty strong with WA1 and WA2. Rody is a homunculus, not a "homo cross", and Zack is the Vambrace of the knights, not the Van Burace.
>>14235999
The van burace of the fenrill knights at that.
You know, fenrill, the wolf.
>>14235999
Also, Belselk. How the hell do you even pull that one off?
2 was somehow worse. Special mention to any laugh at all being rendered as "Ha. Ha. Ha. Ha." making everyone look like snarky assholes.

>>14236077
>It's pretty good, except for one the most important aspects
>>14236092
People still like it despite the duwang, it's that good.
I mean it's not as good as it should be, but still good.
Another WA2 duwang: Ley lines and ley points became "raline" and "ray point".
Yeah it's pretty bad.

Im a bit surprised no one's done a retranslation patch for 2. I know Wild Arms is kind of niche but it's hardly an obscure franchise
>>14236729
>that /ss/ story in WA3
Diamonds.
>>14236780
I've never even seen people talk about outside Symphogear threads here on /m/. I recall hearing the franchise name before those, but only occasionally and not in years. If it's not an obscure franchise it's certainly an untouched, unloved and unseen one.
>>14236849
it took me a few minutes to even remember why this is /m/ related. i remember the opening cinematic being pretty legit, though.
>>14236849
Go to /vr/ and get a thread going. It shouldn't be hard. It's not an unpopular series by any stretch it's just kinda "dead" at the moment so there's not a lot to really discuss. But it's no harder to find fans of it than it is Suikoden or Breath of Fire
>>14236854
The /m/ stuff comes out of left field at first and tends to vary in quantity depending on the game. 5 can get pretty giant robo in places
>>14236849
Why are you acting so proud of being a newfaggot, again?
>>14236780
Ah, I remember like the second or third fight with Kanon. She kept attacking one of the guys, and killed him, so I had the girl resurrect him, but he had low HP, so on her turn, she just killed him. So I resurrected him again. And I had my other guy dealing damage. So we got stuck into this loop where the weakest guy would die, get resurrected, since he had the lowest HP Kanon would only attack him, leaving my other guy free to attack Kanon.
>>14236875
Thats a /v/ thing, don't mind him
>>14236875
>>14236883
He's not doing anything of the sort, though.
>>14236875

I think so, but yeah, the translation's pretty janky in spots. Like everything that comes out of Liz's mouth, for example.
>>14237487
Liz and Ard where intentionally unintelligible even in the Japanese version they're loony you're not supposed to understand them because they're nonsensical aliens

XF is good as far as TRPGs go, since you can really use tactics instead of just grinding everyone to be more powerful than the enemies.
>>14242649

It just feels very incomplete to me: Short, a fairly undeveloped cast, a very undeveloped set of villains. The music was a treat though.
Gawn's missile-fighting scene was fantastic.
>>14258653
>I'd argue it is the darkest of the series.
How the hell does that make it good?
I don't outright hate the game but no one complained about it not being dark. They complained about it not being all that great.
The Hex system is a cool idea but the story, characters and world are all woefully underdeveloped (possible exceptions being Raquel and Arnaud, they actually had a good thing going)
plus I didn't like how only Jude could be played on the map and was the only one with tools.
it was a very rushed game
