I like the Zentradi in the original series, I find it interesting that they really had no interest in humanity initially and were just chasing something else and the three spies are very endearing. I don't even remember the names of any of the spies though. They're still my favourite part of SDF and I favor it over DYRL specifically because of them. I have other reasons, but their minor role in DYRL is the main one. Kamjin I mostly remember for trying to ride a Destroid, Exedore for singing My Boyfriend Is A Pilot. The faction of the Zentradi has a lot to like about them, but individually most of them only have one or two cool moments. I don't think that makes them less than or my liking them not real.

See that's the thing though. The Zentraedi have a lot more 'moments' over the series. They have many things that define them as characters which makes them so memorable. They have many aspects to them that people would like. Gigil does not really have this. And it mainly only comes to the point when he's about to die in which his best moments are him singing and him dying. Before that it's just him going around and being "generic villain bad guy" who screams about getting more Spiritia.
