What was Deikun end goal? Did he even have any end goals? Was he just insane?

Did he really believe he could get all humans off Earth without genocide? Did he think spacenoid independence could be won without bloody conflict?

Did he seriously believe humanity would develop a six-sense because "it's hard to communicate in space"?

>Did he seriously believe humanity would develop a six-sense because "it's hard to communicate in space"?
Well it did develop, so he was not completely wrong
>>
>>14227197

It developed in an infinitismally small subset of people, seemingly in response to a different stimuli (conflict not distance) and never became close to a real evolution because of it.

He didn't get it all wrong, but he certainly didn't get it all right.
>>
>>14227230
Because of constant wars, lack of training for potential newtypes, because of Earth still being inhabited
>>
>>14227253

Yea, right. Earth had the minority population from UC forward by all accounts and Newtypes are only shown to awaken during conflict. Earth still being inhabited didn't affect Amuro or Kamille among several others, there's no conceivable reason it'd affect anyone else not living on it. Not to mention Uso appears to have awoken as one despite living there. Karlmann too.
>>
>>14227262
And almost all of the main Victory cast have some sort of Newtype senses towards the end
>>
>>14226907
>Did he think spacenoid independence could be won without bloody conflict?

Origin Deikun obviously did, since he was raving about how he needed to declare war on everyone in the Earth Sphere.
>>
>>14227277

So what? It's still a tiny amount, they still awoke in conflict and Earth having people didn't stop it happening. So your points are bunk.
>>
>>14227262
>Newtypes are only shown to awaken during conflict
What about Lalah?
>>
>>14227262
Uso has newtype (or just spacenoid) parents
Kamille is a spacenoid.
Amuro's dad spent a lot of time at Side 3 with Minovsky.
>>
>>14227300

You mean the child prostitute raised on Earth and found in a brothel during a war? Yea, I bet she never had any conflict at all.
>>
>>14227316
Never mentioned Amuro, never mentioned Kamille. Uso!s parents might have been Spacenoid, but he wasn't. He was raised on Earth and started fighting there.
>>
>>14227318
>child prostitute
A version by Tomino. Not proven by movies or series.
She's from Side 5.
>>
>>14227325
Spacenoid genes may evolve into newtype genes

The idea of true understanding has been tied to space since the first cosmonauts and astronauts saw the blue marble and were overcome with that whole sensation of insignificance and wonder. They were the ones that came up with the idea that if they were able to bring everyone up there to see the reality of our blue planet that they would reach an understanding of the Earth and each other as lifeforms.

Deikun's philosophy is just a religious zealotry revolving around that idea combined with the idea that the people who can reach this zenith are superior.

Honestly though considering Tomino's fascination with American and French science fiction I'm surprised Amuro never replied to Char's lunacy about gravity with something akin to, "gravity is what keeps humanity together." American and French sci-fi of the 70s and early 80s loved that shit.
>>
>>14227336
Maybe there can be influence of Vernadsky and Teilhard de Chardin's noosphere theory
>>
>>14227330

Okay, then Earth having a population still didn't affect and she still awoke during a war.

>>14227333

He isn't a Spacenoid though. That's like saying Amuro's parents are Earthnoid therefore he was one due to having Earthnoid parents and so couldn't have awoken.

Also, I did mention both Amuro and Kamille so apologise for saying I didn't. I had my last post in mind and forgot that one.
>>
>>14227344
It would make sense if they did apply the noosphere theory, either by accident or on purpose, in UC.

Minovsky particles have been a byproduct of advanced He3 fusion reactors since the beginning, which has always been a point of contention seeing as the power output in suits and ships didn't match what a fusion reactor similar to the technological level Gundam suggested would produce.

Newtypes didn't appear until Minovsky particles began to spread as well.
>>
>>14227330
>She's from Side 5.

Only in the Tomino novels, which are their own continuity, not canon to the animation, and have different backstories for other major characters (Ramba Ral is a loyal Gihren toady, the White Base crew are all volunteers, etc.)
>>

And The Origin?
>>
>>14226907
I think he was just a high-functioning manic-bipolar meth junkie who got in the right place at the right time for disaffected rich people in the colonies to decide that they didn't want to be Federation cronies anymore.

Otherwise he'd be a raving hobo making mass-production shoes in some other colony sweatshop anywhere else during the UC.

If you want to get into the mind of Deikun when he was getting ready to make his speech, take a look at the Zeta Gundam novels. Deacon translated his speech from the 4th volume and posted it on mechatalk. it's too long to copy and paste here:

Wasn't the "Newtype" idea originally a metaphor, too, and then got co-opted to referring to psychics later?
>>
>>14227336

But thinking that idea of "Small Man, Big Earth" will develop into psychic abilities is a huge jump.

It's like thinking that when trains were invented and it became possible to cross time-zones really fast that human beings would develop time-related powers.
>>
>>14226907
Get everyone off Earth because muh environment. Yes. Yes.
Yes. Yes.
Yes.
>>
>>14227197
Given the number of people who developed it without living in space, it seems like there's some other factor at work than environment and conflict (even if the latter is the awakening trigger).

My money is on Minovsky particles. That shit gets into your womb and primes your baby to be a psychic terror later on. Just say no.

But then Victory came along and well....

A lot of Gundam UC makes much more sense if we ignore the existence of Victory.

Zeon, and by proxy the Federation since they redirected the colony onto Australia inadvertently to save Jaburo, did the UC universe a favor by wiping out the main source of shitposters on Earth.

Also a colony drop COULDN'T murder everyone on Earth. Remember, a colony is essentially just a giant, empty tin can. You'd need to drop something with a lot more mass to try and do a planet killer operation.

To build a space wall and make the colonies great again

He basically believed in a space master race and that everything would fall into their hands cause they were so great. People like to say their wouldn't have been as much death if he kept in charge but their most likely would have been

>Did he seriously believe humanity would develop a six-sense because "it's hard to communicate in space"?
No, any description of newtype he gave was vague. It was more that a phenomenon fitted his idea so it was called newtype rather than him figuring it out, if anything he was wrong as it rarely ever helps positively

>He basically believed in a space master race and that everything would fall into their hands cause they were so great. People like to say their wouldn't have been as much death if he kept in charge but their most likely would have been

This. Given how fanatical Deikun and his followers are portrayed, I can easily imagine him antagonizing the Federation even more, probably even launching some 'Cultural Revolution' in Side 3, destroying all Earth influence in order to 'unbind the people from gravity'.

I think the most ironic thing in Origin is that while the Zabis may have been evil, they were probably the only ones among Deikuns followers who were sane and clever enough to turn Side 3 into a functioning nation state.
>>
>>14239149
>People like to say their wouldn't have been as much death if he kept in charge but their most likely would have been
He would have declared war on the Federation ten years before they were ready, and the Feddies would have BTFO of the Republic. The "war" would have probably lasted six years. Which would consist of Federation warships parked outside Side 3 while the Republic starves to death inside their sole colony. The Zabis would have likely negotiated a peace treaty and Deikun would have killed himself because of his dementia. Artesia would have been raped and killed by the poorer members of Side 3 after stopping to give some left over food to an impoverished family a year or two into the blockade. Casval would probably then take up a vendetta against the Federation, same as he did against the Zabis.

Mobile Workers would have never been invented. Thus leading to Mobile Suits never being invented either.
>>
>>14241175

So, in a way, more peaceful as they're be less full on warfare and therefore less deaths
>>
>>14241175

While Zeon may not have made Mobile Suits, someone probably would have. The Ball is mobile worker pod and already includes some of the same technology (hence the mobile designation) and other mobile workers of various kinds were already in use. All Zeon did was see their potential and weaponize it, which not everyone could do, but someone else probably would. It's like saying without Farnsworth we'd have no TV. Which is silly. He definitely was the one to pioneer a lot of the technologies we use today, but lots of people were working on similar projects at the time so someone would almost certainly have got it even if he didn't. It was a technology whose time had come.
>>
>>14242616
>someone probably would have.

Not necessarily. Progress is not inevitable
>>
>Implying newtypes aren't just the result of humanity subconsciously attempting to overcome the rigors brought on by minovsky particles, something that's continued presence in UC is almost entirely a product of war

Earth isn't the problem, it's just that people in space have to deal with the figurative black-out caused by minovsky particles far more often than those on earth.
>>
>>14245732

It isn't, but when all the pieces were on place and multiple people are working on the same stuff, it usually is. The Greeks had batteries and electricity for instance, but only used it for simple applications like opening temple doors to show the power of the Gods. When they lost it, everyone did because no-one else knew about it or cared. Zeon weren't the only ones working on mobile units. The Federation already had m worker pods with some of the same technology (like arms). Weaponizing that isn't something just anyone will do, but isn't a singular thing only one person in a society is going to think of either. If Zeonic didn't think of it, someone probably would have.
