I just finished "Fight! Iczer One". The animation and art was absolutely gorgeous, the Mecha were fantastic, and despite having really simple characters and plot, it was done extremely well and left lots of room for the fantastic action scenes.

Iczer 3 is pretty fun but it lacks the cool horror elements that the first series has and there's not much mecha action. For the first time in the series there's a spaceship that doesn't get destroyed seconds after its highly animated introduction, though.
I think a lot of Iczers charm has to do with how amateur it feels in a way. Like the original TMNT comics.

Sayoko in part III confuses the HELL out of me.
So she gets crushed, but oh she has the bracelet so she's safe. Yet we never see her during the scene where they're supposedly putting her somewhere safe. We just hear her voice.
I STRONGLY suspect that in the original story she died. They then realized this might be too dark, or that it's weird that Nagisa would recover so quickly. But they changed their mind too late so they couldn't change the animation. So they just changed the dialog.
Note: Sayoko survives in both the English and Japanese dubs. It's not an English sensorship thing.

Anyone else think Nagisa/Iczer-1 fucked up when they straight up murdered Colbalt? Delos-Theta was trashed. Her mech couldn't fight back. Trashing the cockpit was uneeded.

If you're talking about the science teams in the franchise, they tend to vary. They range from comically incompetent to on top of things. The original show's Science Patrol did shine every once in a while, though, even managing to destroy a monster Ultraman had trouble beating.
