To be fair they realized it before they started GaoGaiGar. It's very much aimed at the fans of the Brave series that grew up on the franchise over 6 years and were teens or young adults by the time GGG came out. Compared to its predecessors GGG has a more comprehensive plot with distinct arcs such that the episodes, even if they are monster-of-the-week, have some build up to the end of the arc, and each arc itself is related to the next one. It's subtle but the composition is actually better than most of the previous Brave shows.

For me Gaogaigar is all about wholesome fun and courage. It always had fanservice but FINAL went way overboard with it, and added a character with a shockingly dark backstory who was still useless in the end so she was there just for the bee rape.
In before SJW accusations or whatever: I don't mind fanservice. But there's time and place for everything, and GGG is not it.

I can completely understand this even though I enjoyed the fanservice in Final. Sure in the original GGG they had like 3-4 scenes in the entire 49 episodes, but Final's fanservice IMO went way overboard.
