>the best installment in the gundam franchise so far this century is a show about plastic model battles
Feels weird, doesn't it?
Why are you faggots so intent on pretending this show is good? There's a difference between saying you enjoy it and saying it's objectively good.
>>14185088
rip
>>14185161
Define what makes a show >objectively good or gtfo
>>14185161
But it is objectively good. It features consistent characterisation, good action, great comedy and is quite well-written for something that's a shameless advertisement and doesn't even try to pretend it's not.
>>14185161
The same reason they hail Gurren Lagann as a masterpiece.
Chronic Normalfag shit taste.
They'll praise anything easy to digest
>>14185088
>gendumfags think the series designed to stroke their limp dicks is the best shit since nostalgia
WOOOOW
>>14185218
It was the first gundam show I watched.
>best installment
>first installment since 0079 to feature Argentinian characters
checks out
>>14185264
They're called the Falklands not Malvinas.
>>14185276
oh boy oh man oh shiiiit am I ever so burnt I have so totes never heard that before oh shit yr edge it cuts deep, so deep into the core of my cerulean-and-white heart. allow me to weep the tears of the condor for my lost native land
>>14185176
How come these guys never thought to fire their particle cannons to break the ice? Terrain is destructible in gunpla battles, and if they prioritize aquatic combat they'd need to get in the water fast, by any means necessary.
Honestly, it's a tie between this and Thunderbolt for me.
GBF is just such a joyful show. It's about bonds between friends, good sportsmanship, and having fun. It warms my heart, and I mean that in the least gay way possible.
GBF is the most lighthearted and enjoyable /m/ show in a long time. Whatever happened to the OVAs though? Both seasons were commercial successes so it seems weird that Sunrise has dropped the franchise for the time being.
>>14185161
i say the same thing about g reco.
>>14187107
Earlier this year in a Gunpla expo they mentioned they started production. People are predicting they'll come out around summer.
>>14185882
They're used to starting out in the water and ambushing their opponent. Team Try already had them in sight so it was too late for that and they panicked. IIRC on the twitter after the episode aired they said that team Free actually hit their self destructs rather than fight team Try.
>>14185161
I think they are talking about GBF not Try.
>>14187107
Confirmed to currently be in production as of last fall (They had to wait until certain key staff were freed up to work on them) so they should be out mid to late this year.
They were probably waiting for Thunderbolt to finish up.
>>14187236
Team Tryhard also mentions that if you watch the after credit stinger.
I'm on Ep.8 of BF right now and enjoying the series. It's somewhat reminiscent of Angelic Layer or Little Battlers. Is the second season being bad a meme or legit /m/ opinion?
>>14187352
It's okay, but comparing the 2 proves that
MILF>>>Oneechan
Childhood Friend>>>Annoying Senpai
Kira>>>Shinn
>>14187352
It's lackluster and falls short when compared to how good Build Fighters is. Just enjoy BF as you go through it, but if you watch Try, don't expect much from it.
>>14187352
It's not as good, and has several sorta "ripoff of season 1" episodes (SD-Renatos, I'm looking at you)
But it has Tryon 3, which is one of the few redeeming qualities.
>>14185088
That isn't SEED or 00.
>>14187352
It's "Meh" and feels bad compared to the first season as a result.
It's basically the generic battle tournament shounen that we were all afraid the first season would be.
>>14187352
Legitimately awful except for a few good points.
There are some good episodes: everything that features Tryon 3, Snapfag Simon, the first four or so eps, the last episode and arguably the Junya episode depending on how much you wanted to see Sekai decimated.
It's in general terribly animated, is full of awful battle choreography (learned from Build Knuckle my ass) and the 3v3 battles aren't used very well because all of the best battles are 1v1. It also lacks the most important part of GBF: the heart of it.
>>14187352
It's a huge step down from S1, but on its own merits it's just a middling shonen tournament show.
>>14187536
>is full of awful battle choreography
The director mostly just has single episodes under his belt as a director and everything he works on tends to end up very bland and lackluster.
>>14187352
>Is the second season being bad a meme or legit /m/ opinion?
/m/ opinions, like the entire rest of 4chan, are absolute toss. As with everything else it is exaggerated as fuck because there's no 'just okay' for the really vocal people. Everything has to be great or total shit.
Guess what, it's neither. It's a disappointment, it's a let down but there's no reason you shouldn't still get some enjoyment out of it.
>>14185088
Why are the Renatos using a zeek uniform? They used a custom feddie MS
>>14187352
>Is the second season being bad a meme or legit /m/ opinion?
Do you like stock footage?
>>14187580
Only one of them is wearing a zeek uniform. And they used a Hygogg during the battle royal.
>>14187583
Depends how they use it.
>>14187580
Their custom Feddie suit was equipped with Zeon soldiers.
>>14187587
Build Burning pretty much runs on stock footage for his attacks.
JEGAN HOW ARE YOU!?!?!?
>>14187639
>even in the one episode where Sekai doesn't fight, CHICKEN HOW'RE YOU still saves the day.
>>14187352
I'll give you a hint.
The best parts of the show is when the protags are getting their teeth kicked in.
Meijin and Busty Meijin talking shit to Yuu and Fumina, edgy MMA kid styling on Sekai, and Tryon-3 almost defeating Tryhards were the best moments in the show.
>>14187880
>Busty Meijin
I actually forgot Lady was a thing. What did she even do? Serve as a role model for Fumina?
>>14187885
She told Fumina that her strategy of powering up her teammates and then leaving them to fend for themselves in a 2v3 format was the dumbest fucking idea.
Srsly tho, considering there's no limit on what kind of backpack you can have, how did they not just launch with Fumina's winning bullshit attached? Considering the plavsky hax that is the Build Burning, there's no way it needed the extra particles.
>>14187892
They recieve a charge of particles at the start of the match. By giving them her parts she gives them a much higher amount of particles due to it being made of her kits body and a percentage of her main gunplas total particles instead of just a weapon they launched with and part of their own charge.
>>14187907
>>14187892
Also, they didn't know BB had pretty much unlimited particles at the time.
>>14187885
No explanation as to why she was there, what the hell ger title meant, how she earned it, why she was a Meijin III clone instead of having her own personality or quirks, what role she was supposed to serve, what the extent of her ability is, who was behind the mask, and so on. It's like if Apolly copied Quattro's style and speech and mannerisms but called himself Trés Benis and mentored Katz instead, but still treated him like a retard and educated him with laughinggirl.gif tactics, all while having a shittier fashion sense than his original. She was literally just there because it served Fumina's story but the writers didn't know hoe to be original with it.
>>14187917
God damn Aila would have been a better role model, even if she was back on Arista. Like she just happened to flip the television to when she ripped off her helmet and started fighting in ernest, even though it lasted all of 1 minute.
>>14187917
>Trés Benis
My sides have declared independence.
GBF was the best show in 5 years
Try and IBO were the worst.
>>14187880
I still feel like BFT would have been better if Fumina was the actual main character instead of getting shafted and shunted to a support role/part of Sekai's harem. She's the one that with the dream to win the Nationals, she's the one desperately trying to keep the Gunpla Battle Club alive, and she's the one who best embodies the spirit of gunpla battle and has any sense of teamwork on that team.
Sekai was using the entire sport as just a means to beat people up with his martial arts, and Yuuma built incredibly boring, static snipers and obviously learned nothing from Sei. Fumina had potential to develop as a leader instead of just be support, and I wouldn't be surprised if she ended up with a heavily-customized Thunderbolt-like suit by the end to show for it.
>>14185088
I don't disagree. GBF is the most self-aware entry. It has no delusions of trying to be ethical commentary unlike most of the other shows that come off as preachy or pretentious. Instead it puts its focus on the big part of the franchise's success: The Gunpla and the people that enjoy the hobby. And then makes them fight because why not? It's a light-hearted affair that knows it's a toy commercial for and about the people who buy the plastic so long-time fans will enjoy it.
>>14188080
People already take sports about as seriously as war in real life so it's as good an excuse for high drama as any
>>14188082
in before that guy who used to tell us GBF and GBFT just aren't good because fictional world championship model building and e-sports isn't important enough and nothing is at stake
as opposed to fictional bloody wars, but whatever
>>14187352
It has some nices episodes and a few redeeming qualities, but the worst thing its the lead, generic shonen martial artist guy that through all the series doesnt learn anything. That people wanted the rivals to win should tell you something.
>>14188077
I approve of this post, but Japan doesnt have the balls to make a girl a Mech shonen lead in a show made to sell gunpla.
>>14188135
>That people wanted the rivals to win should tell you something.
The good guys lost never forget
Greco didn't have plastic model battles though?
>>14188156
Gunbuste-
>in a show made to sell gunpla.
Nevermind.
>>14188156
Fumina was the most popular of the three by a huge margin since the announcement, but I guess they couldn't have predicted that.
Try's biggest problem to me was how boring it was. The battles were uninspired, the team battle format made the show introduce far more characters than it could handle developing. I remember hearing having teams was some exec or producer's idea, but I never knew if it was confirmed or just /m/'s bullshit.
>>14187885
I gathered she was the person the 3rd Meijin chose to succeed him, and she was looking for her own successor in turn. Fumina and Shia were the two she had in mind for this, but neither knew that.
>>14188077
I just wish she hadn't ditched the Powered GM Cardigan for a fucking SD, even if the Winning was rather hax.
OVA's when, they said there would be OVA's
>>14188566
Fumina was the MC for all of one episode and it was the only good episode in the series until the very last.
She really should have STAYED the MC, and the crazy bitch she was in EP1.
>>14185088
No, it doesn't. This was a show with a talented staff that cared a lot about it, that's why it was so good. It's the same reason why Exodus was so good. On the other hand you have rushed toy commercials like Try and IBO (no passion) or the trainwreck that was G-Reco (passion and talented animators but completely ruined by the awful script) .
>>14190299
I like SDs and like Winning, but yeah, poor Cardigan deserved better.
>>14190713
It did get the best upgrade in the Super Fumina, though.
>>14185088
Why were the Fellini fights in the tournament the best?
>best installment this century
>not thunderbolt
Lol
>>14190745
ButBloodhoundswas the best fight of GBF.
>>14190800
Thunderbolt looks decent but holy hell was it rushed to shit.
>>14190824
At least there's a director's cut movie coming (though I doubt it'll add much).
>>14190824
UCFag go home.
>>14190906
>UCFag
Who?
>>14190824
Well yeah, but the two Fellini fights were amazing.
I know this is already a board for guys into embarrassing manchildren shit but liking gbf is another level of embarrassing. I can't even imagine telling someone to watch it. >>14190800
Thunderbolt is beautiful but empty, like a dumb model.
>>14190915
Can't argue with that.
>>14191072
Sucks to be you. ;)
>>14188178
>try to prove that you're a better rival for your friend over some random dick who called him bad that one time
>Have enough conviction to go groveling to his school's Gunpla club so he could have the chance to fight Yuu
>Actually has dreams and aspirations that aren't just win
>Lose
Fucking Try I swear to God.
>>14187892
>She told Fumina that her strategy of powering up her teammates and then leaving them to fend for themselves in a 2v3 format was the dumbest fucking idea.
And that was fucking stupid if you ask me.
When Fumina took up the support role, the show presented it as a good thing - that she finally found a way for her team to work together and sacrifiecd her own individual performance for sake of teamwork. But now it's suddenly a bad thing? Have some consistency, GBF Try.
Not to mention, Lady Meijin was trash talking her and saying she can't fight while Fumina was pulling off better moves than anything her or Yuu (and arguably Sekai too) did in any previous fight.
But that's the worst part of Try, it constantly undermines and goes back on what was said before - either in Try itself or in the previous season.
>>14191072
Why would you be telling normies to watch anime?
>>14191072
You sound like a teenager too afraid of being called a kid to enjoy things.
>>14191072
How is Thunderbolt more empty than most other entries in Gundam?
It managed to tell those characters story with very little time and made good use of visuals and soundtrack to show and not tell said characters emotions, something anime very rarely does.
I think people exagerate in their praise of it but going the opposite way and trashtalk it like that is as retarded.
>>14192781
Remember when Yuuma learned he shouldn't just be content with cheering on the sidelines?
Yeah, he didn't either.
>>14192807
>How is Thunderbolt more empty than most other entries in Gundam?
Well it reads like the fan-fic of a teenager that just saw 08th MS Team and 0083 for the first time, so...
>>14187352
BF left a lot of open questions that Try runs up to, turns 360 degrees and runs away from. It's not terrible, but it's definitely not satisfying.
>>14193510
>turns 360 degrees and runs away from
360?
>>14193527
>the joke
>your head
