Anyone else here have a simple adoration for Martian Successor Nadesico?
It just fills me with childhood glee whenever I pop in my old ADV DVD set and watch the obvious VHS conversion to disc and the ads for ReBoot come on before we get to burning.

It had some. Mostly the reappearances and interactions of the old crew. But that's not much in comparison to the confusing shit going on.
I think the biggest problem of the movie is that there is nothing (to watch) after it.

I think Nadesico is probably my favorite mecha anime of all time but I really can't pin down a reason why, the whole thing just works so well. The first time I watched it I hadn't watched much mecha and thought it was "okay", the second time I watched it I had more series under my belt and thought it was "good" and the third time I watched it I had reached Übersperg status and thought it was one of the best shows ever.

I liked Nadesico, but never understood if it was meant to be parody or taking itself seriously. Also not nearly enough mecha action. Never saw the movie.

Also, Nadesico is what a lot of /m/ anons say they always wanted to see. A (mostly) adult cast employed by a morally ambigous corporation. Moral ambiguity in general, with the protagonists remaining sympathetic but without going all Three Ships Alliance. And last but not the least, no super prototypes - the main cast uses mass produced mooks. Except the Nadesico itself that is.
