It always amazed me how closely this show paralleled my sex life. The theme song always started playing in my head when I was balls-deep in some lady.

Yeah, they want to push 70s Tekkaman but it doesn't make any traction at all. Meanwhile Blade gets two SRW games.

Can't take a hint, huh?
>>
>>14172246
Quite clearly. They got desperate enough that they're featuring it in that upcoming CGI show of theirs.

At least they're giving the first Time Bokan the time of day with a remake (since Yatterman met that quota already), so this anniversary won't be completely wasted.
>>
>>14172268
It's kind of weird that Casshern Sins didn't somehow make a hit unlike Blade, when it comes to Tatsunoko remakes, huh?

>>14172246
I kinda do want to know what 70s Tekkaman was like, even if the design isn't as cool as Blade. The only subs we have are crabsticks, right?

Either way, Tekkaman strikes me as the kind of series that would do great with modern animation. Blade's 25th anniversary is next year. Here's hoping.
>>
>>14169989

I finished this series only a few weeks ago. After looking past the QUALITY as fuck visuals, I found it to be a surprisingly compelling series. There were a lot of strong emotional moments, and the rivalry between Takaya and Shinya was extremely engaging. Twin Blood was fucking sick, too; I wish the entire series could have been animated like that, though unfeasible it may be.

D-boy had a hard life ;_;

That shouting match with Takehito and Wakamoto is probably the best voice acting I've heard from both of them. When Omega started getting pissed off, I actually jumped in my chair.
>>14172736
>>14172782
It's kind of hilarious and yet soul-crushing how much this show puts him through.

It's kind of funny in that "what else can we do this this guy? How much can we make him SUFFER!", and the writers manage to figure it out anyway. Anything something important is happening, it's usually something bad happening to D-Boy. Everything gets worse before they get better, and they make sure everything manages to get even worse.

You remember that cool Blastor Tekkaman scene? Yeah, this is what happens when it DOESN'T kill you! That's what you get for pushing it, another form of slowly dying, enjoy!

As for it soul-crushing, when I think about everything he had to do, well, I couldn't do it. I wouldn't be able to.

What happened to him in the ending is probably the one mercy he had been granted the entire series.

Blade actually had an serial storyline that was well done. Sins despite the gorgeous Umakoshi direction was just too episodic and barely had any story (even for a Kobayashi show) and imo was really not well done at all.

I thought Blade II had cool concepts but the story execution kinda let it down.

-co-opting the tek set system from the radam
-alien tekkamen
-high population of half finished tekkamen mixed with humans
-Tekkaman Aki

but yeah, there's a lot of flaws with II. Among them, D-boy's power-level being all over the place, and they didn't really flesh out Natasha's character.

I really would like a modern Tekkaman Blade OVA though complete with tits. I can't help but feel they need to fill in a few holes between the original and II
I'd definitely like to explore Aki's development into a Tekkaman
-why does she need Pegas for her tek-set? Everybody just uses their crystal now, even D-boy
-how did she even become a tekkaman? Did she just offer herself up to one of the radam trees?

Also they kinda need to explain how D-boy got from the end of the original to the beginning of II
plus What became of Freeman and Rebin?

The Radam invasion wasn't over. A second wave showed up to attack Earth, but Blade was still retarded, so they made their own artificial system which let Aki turn into Tekkaman Aki.

Blade got better and beat the shit out of Radam in the end anyway because you can't leave this sort of thing to a stupid woman, then became a recluse.

That's pretty much it.
>>
>>14179480
Missing Link was supposed to be a trailer of sorts that would have been made into an OVA or something to actually bridge the original and II, but that obviously never happened. So as to whether it's "canon" or not is debatable.

I also believe 'Missing Link' more than a, well, link between Blade and Blade II, was likely a bunch of ideas that eventually were -mostly- scrapped. Only the Aki stuff looks cannon in Blade II (and some things like why she wanted to kill Blade are never touched).

Also Noal has a -miserable- scene in Blade II. Whether he is dead or not is never answered nor intended to be at any point, which might be weird for someone who never watched Blade II but then you realize that aside from 3 characters (D, Aki, Honda), none of the other main characters appear, and are not even referenced at all.

I guess they originally tried to go in one direction but usual time constraints eventually made the Tatsunoko guys drop some of the stuff they wanted to add.

Anyway I enjoyed Blade II but is a clusterfuck. Doesn't answer shit, and left the the viewer with more questions. Some stuff is borderline surreal like D's "magical" recovery.

Also the new characters are OK but they go nowhere. Yumi is annoying and DEAD END is, well, with that name you can figure it out. At least at the end he gets his shit together.

I'd like a new Tekkaman Blade, whether a remake or a sequel of sorts would be cool.

Oh, I understand what's going on. It just betrays everything that her character is about. That she's there to suffer with D-Boy, but in a different kind of way, in a strange way that sets them apart, but also brings them together.

I can't see Aki being so sexually frustrated that she'd drag D-Boy in bed and fuck him when she knows he literally doesn't fucking have it in him, because he's fucking brain damaged from saving the world because being an incomplete Tekkaman is a raw deal.

Giving him a handjob? Sure, whatever. Seeing/fucking another guy on the side? Sure, it's edgy, but it makes sense.
Mounting on top of D-Boy and whining about he's no hero because he won't even hold her? Fucking embarrassing.

I'd prefer my hero not be made into a cuck, thank you very much
>>
>>14180895
I'd rather that then her raping him.
I think if you gave D-Boy the choice of being cucked or having to fight all of his family members while slowly dying AND losing his mental capabilities, then I think he'd take the former.

If we're going to have Aki do something deplorable, I'd rather she do something...normal? I mean, for fuck's sake, she probably had to take off all of his clothes for him just to d that.
>>
>>14181129
What you want is still vastly worse than what she did
>>
>>14181136
No, it really isn't. For her to fuck him, she basically had to prop him up there, herself. He's mentally disabled, and we all know it. She knows what she signed up for. We all know that in that state that he's in, he's not going to be able to love her as a woman. She can't be that sexually frustrated to want to have to do all of THAT D-Boy

I'd much rather see a character be unfaithful and go stepping out on the side than to see the main character of an action/drama series get raped while he's recovering from fucking brain damage. Shit, you could argue that she's not in love with him, but is willing to take care of him. It's not fair to D-Boy, but fuck it, that's the least of his problems.

Is this an r9k thing? Where getting cucked is the worst thing that could ever happen to you?
Would you take D-Boy's place if it meant Aki would "take care of you"?
>>
>>14181152
>Is this an r9k thing
No, it's a matter of not being stupid. It's also weird that you find her raping him to shit over her character, yet cheating on him is okay because of muh realism/other bullshit, even though that would shit on her as bad.
>>
>>14181163
I don't know what fucking insane universe you live in, but I suggest you get the fuck on somewhere.

It would make much more sense for Aki to not feel as strongly as she does for D-Boy and seeing someone else to fulfill her needs for emotional support/love, and taking care of him as more of a job
THAN
To strip off his clothes, place him in bed, mount him, and to moan loudly about how he isn't a hero, and he won't even hold her, or love her. When everyone apart of the Space Knights already fucking knows that the man is a step above being a vegetable because of his run in with the Tek-System and the effect it's had on his body.
She knows that he can't do it, not because he doesn't want to, but because he's physically (remember the wheel-chair?) and not mentally capable of doing so. Even with how frustrated she is at the situation, she fucking knows that he's like that because of the terrible circumstances that happened to him.

And you want to tell me that makes more sense than just slowly falling out of love with him and finding someone else?
FUCK YOU.
Yeah, raping the comatose man makes a lot more sense to her character than finding someone else. Did you even think about what you wrote?
Did you even watch the scene? The series?
Did you get cucked in real life? You must have. You must have to be projecting this goddamn hard.

What classic metaphors?

Anon, he will just keep making half assed rebuttals because he sees Aki being unfaithful to D-Boy as the single worst thing that could ever happen to him and not the fact that he had to kill his family and become as responsive as a rock

Damn son, you're really getting upset over something so simple and unimportant.

>>14185253

He never said nor implied anything like that.

>>14185258
Pegas was the best character, he should have gotten more lines. My favorite moments in the show were whenever he was singing

Why are you now trying to pretend you're another person? No one else would take notice or care about either of the posts you quoted, only the jackass from /r9k/ would

Nah, by the end he was a literal rage drone

Is that a common stock sound effect or did they specifically proceed the volt-tackle with the Sol-Tekkman fermion weapon sound?

Because I am.

She took out a named character who was around for a fair few episodes, that's gotta count for something right?

Not when that guy had tripped about fifteen death flags and was basically doing a suicide attack on her anyway. He was more responsible for his own death than she was.

>>14185934
Anyone else imagine the tekkamen in a sitcom like The Office? Having chit chats around the watercooler about how shitty their fellow employees are

The guy who does the sound effects for pokemon also worked on Tekkaman so he used the exact same

She was, actually.
She got engaged to Kengo
I guess it's only "technically", but I'd like to think it would have happened if they didn't get transformed by invading space bugs
>>
>>14186116
I knew that and considered that "indirectly related"

I thought it was interesting how their relationship sort of persisted despite the Radam mind control, as did Shinya's jealousy towards Takaya. You'd expect the consciousness of the little Radam bug to replace the original consciousness, but that's clearly not what happens, so I'm still wondering how the mind control actually works.
>>
>>14186138
I take it as passive mind-control. They still have their personalities mostly intact, their likes and dislikes, but they're always driven towards doing the Radam's will, unless they have a really intense emotion, then that will drive them instead.

When you think about it, it's this sort of "flaw" is why the Radam lost out in the end. Had everyone just waited like Omega wanted, Blade probably would have just died trying to get to the moon.

Shinya got out because Feng-Li let him out to go fight Blade and it was with his crystal that Blade got to the Moon, and Feng-Li went to go fight the Blue Earth.

Even if she didn't stay put, they'd have +Tekkaman to deal with and a time limit.
>>
>>14185266
isn't the volt tackle from pulseman as well, since it was made by gamefreak?
>>
>>14187018
Presumably the Radam would use more direct mind control if they were able, so the bugs must be the best they can do.

Actually, what's the minimum the Radam needed to do to win? Blade didn't start getting really fucked up until he started using the Blaster system, so they had to send a few Tekkamen down to provoke him into doing that. They at a minimum had to send Dagger or he could have flown to the Moon on his own once he realized where they were.
>>
>>14187075
>Blade didn't start getting really fucked up until he started using the Blaster system
It's because Blade was getting really fucked up that he needed to make the Blaster upgrade to begin with. His body couldn't take the normal transformation anymore.

The minimum they needed to do was kill Miyuki. D-Boy would have never known what to do or how to do it without her.
>>
A weird thought occurred to me.
If Blade II happened 10 years after the original and presumably Yumi, Natasha, etc... were likely under the age of 10 when they got sucked up by the radam trees, did they always have full size tekkaman bodies or were there little SD style tekkamen running around before they got older?

Weren't Blade II's teksetters 'artificial' (human developed) or something like that?
>>
>>14188279
I thought they got (incomplete?) bodies, without the combat components, which had to be added through human means or that radam reactor in Prague.

Also seems kind of interesting that portrayed the Reactor Voltekker as something of a software upgrade considering due to a glitch they ended up installing it in the wrong person, but that begs the question as to why didn't they install it in the other two later on?

Honestly? They probably could have just holed up in space and just waited for Tekkaman Blade to die after his crystal was broken. It was beacause of that, he couldn't make it to the moon, and it's not like the rest of humanity was up to the case, and unless they came REALLY prepared, even if the Blue Earth managed to get him there, he'd be up against a team of Tekkaman, literally marching to his death
>>
>>14169989

so how the fuck does being biologically altered allow you to summon a suit of power armor

that's probably the one thing that has always bugged me about tekkaman
>>
>>14172425
To be honest, it's amazing that Blade even exists given the 70s show's quality.
The plot and characters besides Andro and occasionally Pegas are subpar and to top it all off the show is cut short and therefore ends on a cliffhanger.
The only positive aspects I can think of were the funky 70s designs of everything and that the battles could get pretty intense sometimes.

I'd even go so far and say that this is one of the shows you should slap people in their faces whenever they go "muh glorious oldskool anime is better than the crap they show these days".
>>
>>14189103
And it's a wonder why Tatsunoko is even peddling 70s Tekkaman
>>
>>14186138
>I thought it was interesting how their relationship sort of persisted despite the Radam mind control

That wasn't how the Radam control worked. Even the alien Radam Tekkaman in Tekkaman II were not fully mindless drones. But most of the controlled tekkaman retained qualities of their original such as Axe's relation with Shinya/Takaya.

TEKNO MAN. ON UPN 44!

It seemed like the Radam control just instilled them with some instinct to serve Radam's interests, not exactly brainwashing so much as changing their priorities
>>
>>14188996
They are the armor. They're biomechanical.
>>
>>14189878
That's the way it seems, but sometimes, the visor thing in the head gets broken and you can see eyes underneath, implying that it's a person wearing armor instead of a biomechanical person
>>
>>14189982
>>14189982

Pretty sure it's armor with like some weird Pocket Dimension Point Teleportation type of shit going on.

Imagine Iron Man's suit-case suit, but with startrek's teleportation sped up to instantaneous

Guyver was properly Biomechanical. Shit had sinew and shit connected to it
>Still scarred by him having the control gem torn out of his forehead.
>>
>>14189982
It's still biomechanical considering what happens in the very first episode, but you are correct. I just don't worry about it since they never bothered to explain it, and if they didn't think it was that important to be bothered with, why should I?
>>
>>14189869
>It seemed like the Radam control just instilled them with some instinct to serve Radam's interest

This is correct. There are a fair amount of chapters where D says stuff like "x is doing y beceause radam instinct" or something along the lines. I think writers never really tried to give the viewer a full understanding of the thing, and thought it'd be enough with just those vague remarks (which I think is OK in this case).

>>14190029
I agree. There is a lot of stuff in Blade that is left in the air. I think is fine they didn't bother to explain it in-depth and let the viewers get the idea.

That said Blade II's overdid that (either time constraints or incompetence), which as I said in another post left you with even more questions and almost no answers.
>>
>>14190701
When it comes to fictional works, when in doubt, just ignore it or pretend it doesn't exist.
>>
>>14189862
Yes and they cancelled the show in the US like at the half way point just after Rapier's death with the last episode being filler footage from previous episodes.
>>
>>14188996
The Tek-System creates a personalized suit of armor for whoever isn't rejected by the system and as well does that installation of Radam-survival in them as well. The point of having to transform is that they would run out of energy otherwise. The first thing D-Boy says to the Space Knights is for them to give him some food. And if we're going by Tekkaman Blade II, the system adapts to the body used, so that's why it didn't just make them into Radam monsters and just have them absorb energy with feelers or something.

I assume that after a while, or people strong enough would just end up like Tekkaman Omega, where they just stuff a bunch of human parts in a suit of armor

Twin Blood's designs were really different. I prefer Blades usual appearance, but the organic designs seems more fitting, since much of the radam aesthetic is really fleshy

also the second OP kicking in as Takaya decides he's going to put up a fight was pretty damn hype
