It's excellent. Maybe I just have nostalgia since it has been one of my favorite manga for years, but I really enjoyed every second of it. Came for the lewd, stayed for the plot. Make sure you read the manga. Watching the first season of the anime and picking up the manga where it leaves off is acceptable since the animation is great and cel-animated as well as faithful to the original. The OVA is worth a watch too when you finish the series.

I'll tell you one thing, Kawakami-verse has a lot of robot meidos.In fact, one of the enemies for a volume of OnC was almost entirely mechanical things and their main force were robot maids.

I can understand the antipathy about light novels. It's a grave that was dug by the flood of super-schlocky, edging on pornographic titles that were turned in to anime.
I would assume light novels would have far more respectability if more things like NHK, Baccono, and the like were adapted rather than the flood of "My-little-sister-made-me-write-my-story's-premise-as-the-title-while-staring-at-the-hem-of-her-rediculously-short-skirt" stories.
And I say this as a guy who's grown a soft-spot for one of the more moe-schlock ones.
