Her timing was off in that one scene with Walkure, that said she still showed off some amazing skill by catching a falling jet like a pillow then destroy an enemy drone in quick succession.
I think they both reacted inappropriately, he could have said he only took the jet to save Freyja but he was pissed at getting clocked in the face for doing the right thing so he pointed out that she's not exactly perfect either.

Because it's not the only time in the episode her piloting is highlighted (she's the one to fall for the ghost trap too) and it, in conjunction with being very quick to anger gives her an obvious flaw and arc.
It is possible to have two simultaneous things happen: Hayate being petty and Mirage being off in her piloting. The fact she blushed and backed down because she recognized the veracity of his claim doesn't make him any less petty.

That's not about her piloting at all. The Draken III's jamming was a systems attack and any one of them could have gotten caught in it. The Ghost drones were only there as distraction to catch her off-guard afterwards.

I think its just Mirage jumping to conclusions too quickly, like her first encounter with Hayate.
She apparently didn't realise that the 171 that she caught was holding a civilian in its hand, she didn't question that at all.
Her rant was about him possibly fucking things up and getting more people killed, which was a legitimate point, but she didn't ask why the fuck was the 171 holding a girl in its hand?
She somehow didn't notice Freyja in the 171's hand the whole time from her catching the 171 to presumably her putting down the 171 later.
She also didn't listen to his side of the story, though it was partly Hayate's fault as well, the whole deal with Freyja running off on her own and all.

When Max told Mirage off, I immediately thought of Hikaru telling off Misa because she gets to sit safely inside the bridge during combat. She is motivated to pilot the Cat's Eye because of this, leading to their capture
