I feel like saying "name a good thing that isn't Shotaro" is a bit unfair, because Shotaro is the best thing in the series by far, both because of his character, along with his connections to the other characters in the series that grow and mature over time. He's integral to why W is good, and his arc alone is what makes the series.

I didn't like the Wizard part either. It had some of Sakamoto's worst excesses with the dumb Poitrine fighting scenes and the story itself just went nowhere since they wanted to keep that twist for a joke at the end.
The Fourze epilogue was good, but then the crossover annoyed me by how much they shafted Fourze and tried to make Wizard look cool. There are at least three moments exactly like this one - both Fourze and Wizard attack. Fourze's attack fails but then Wizard's succeeds. Fourze also doesn't use any Switches aside from his main ones in the final battle, even though he had used a variety of Switches in his own part.
The way Eiji just appeared out of nowhere and the other Riders just go away before the final boss appear was also pretty dumb.

People way over-exaggerate OOO's filler bits and rewriting. I loved the series the whole way through and although it's kind of obvious where some stuff was adjusted on the fly (Gamel and Mezul both getting killed off for a decent chunk of the series, waffling back and forth on Date's defection then him surviving to the end of the series, GaKiriBa being used a grand total of twice), none of those impact the series when you're watching it through in one go with a marathon, and the general structure of the smaller episodic plots with the medal-swapping is strong enough to carry it through those points until a more urgent villain threat presents itself.
When the show gets off its ass and the purple medals show up, it doesn't let up until the end.

I used to go back and forth between Agito and OOO, but then I went back and re-watched OOO and now it's definitely my favorite. Took me a while to warm up to Agito, but holy fuck I loved OOO from the word "go".

Yeah with a lot of the characters, they take the concept of their character's drives and motivations and explores their logical conclusion (Maki's nihilism, Eiji wanting to help the entire world but lacking the power to do it, Kougami wanting to build great things, Ankh's desire for meaningful existence, etc).

It's paced really well that you always have something to look forward to, an idea you want to see pulled off.
What about people that hold desires for good things like saving lives and being a hero, are these essentially as evil and selfish as well?
How does Ankh create Yummies? What do the other medals do? What do the other combos do?
OOO's the most well paced show in my opinion, you're never waiting for something new to happen unlike shows like Fourze where they give the final upgrade way too soon or they have the characters physcially there but none of them are emotionally connected to the situation other than the main hero.

He mentions that it's because they have become "connected" and are drawing each other to destruction. The 1st episode also sells the important of his speech by showing various worlds falling apart.
It's too bad the series never really managed to portray the fusion and destruction of worlds as well as in the first episode again.
He also mentions the stuff about killing the Riders in the first episode itself. There's even a flashback in the final one. Tsukasa just ignored it.

That's due to Kuuga's own foundation though. If they had been open to crossovers and stuff from the start, rather than acting like the show was too good for that), you'd likely see Kuuga himself as a Rider being much more relevant afterwards - even if his actor didn't return.
However, due to Kuuga's approach leading the way to the Heisei shows being completely standalone from each other, and the actors' dislike of tokusatsu for recent crossovers, we get its current situation.

Kuuga actually won on a Seiun Award for KR, the Japanese equivalent to the Hugo.
I think Kuuga is simply not as well accepted is because Inoue and Shirakura the writer and producer pairing for Agito had a more much significant impact on latter Heisei rider shows and even current day Heisei with Shirakura being one of the top bosses at Heisei. While Takatera is mostly known for getting fired from Hibiki and Naruhisa Arakawa is more famous for his Super Sentai work.

I was actually thankful Decade went the AU route since each Kamen Rider series before it tended to have such a self contained story and I didn't really want it to impact on some of the endings of previous shows, most prominently Blades.
