You see nuclear power plant lookalike workers in the trailer, so they may very likely touch that wound from the 2011 disaster.

This is the equivalent of defending deviant tier drawings with "its my style."
Compare this shot from both trailers, what was the purpose of the Japanese one? To make Godzilla look big and show us people scared of him? Its a low angle shot and they some how manage to make him feel small due to placing him near relatively small scale items like power poles.
In the American one Godzilla isn't even standing but feels bigger and feels like he is inflicting a lot more damage to his surroundings. Thats because they used three different points of scale, in the front you have someones head, in the middle you have people running and in the distance building collapsing.
And that usage of paper cranes, they work on two levels, one to show us how far we are from godzilla and further establishing just how big he is. And second as a thematic peace of wishing the characters good luck as they are about to have to deal with godzilla.

The only time the camera was shaky was when the camera was viewing things from peoples perspective. The rest of the time, like the fighting, the camera held and pan steady.
It was hardly cloverfield, they didn't shy away from showing him early on due to being too serious or what ever but to build up the monster confrontations which didn't shy away from showing them.

I think he might be mutated further by Fukushima radiation leak into the water. The new design is supposed to be as scary as possible. You can see how grotesque he is in the teeth, eyes, tail, and skin. I also think this Godzilla is supposed to be incredibly angry. The movie posters evoke a sense of nationalism by referring to Japan as Nippon. You can even see the people in the trailers wearing blue jumpsuits that are essentially TEPCO uniforms, infamous public apologies, wake of destruction very reminiscent of the flood and radiation leak, etc. Godzilla will probably destroy Tokyo, if not more cities in Japan, to represent the anger felt by the citizens of the Touhoku region who have been ignored by their society for the sake of nuclear power and all its benefits that serve the wealthy elite at the expense of others. I think this movie will be incredibly critical of the government/military and Japan centric, which may explain the delay in localization; I bet some people think Americans can't understand this movie just like they used to think about the original two.
