Which is unfortunately a waste. Not only do you not have the Type 2's finisher yet (you get the Keitou Shungokuken... somewhere along the lines of the early 30s or late 20s? Been ages since I did that section of Alpha 1.), but all money put into the Type 2 is wasted, because it doesn't transfer to Ryukouoh and Kouryuoh.

Nuruge patches in general are apparently patches that make the game generally easier. D's is notable for making the armor on Supers actually worth shit (I haven't touched mine in a while but I think they start in the 1600 range? Wheras in normal D they start at like 950 and go up to 1400-1500 for the Spazer crossed Grendizer forms), meaning you can tank properly without heavy focus into Defense and Armor.

It also does things like lower the cost of losing units to 0, but I usually restart when I lose units anyway, so.

Relying on evasion in Vanilla D unless you're a newtype is a waste of time. And even the Newtypes have issues dodging without decent investment in the late game.

What you should be focusing on is stacking Sword/Shield/Gun/After Image procs for your survival by inflating your Skill stat. Which Ganador and Aile Chevalier have in spades.

You can still get by if you buff a lot into pilot Defense and their armor. By the time enemy power will catch up to an early money-sink, you'll probably have Forte Gigas and Love on two pilots, turning the machine into something horrifying.

Sinking pilot points into defense over Accuracy and Skill (If you unit has two or more of Sword/Gun/Shield/After Image) in D is not advised.

Sinking points into accuracy saves you a lot of SP by not having to cast Strike nigh constantly in late game Victory/Macross/OG stages. Basara with a XL Magazine and EN Giga Chip can help to shore up the values as well with a couple Try Again Sigma shots before he's pretty much out of Song EN for the rest of the stage.

Yeah, but it's a thing you can do. Worth a shot for the partner unit, at least, they're not using any of the stats you can raise, so if you start with your MC in Ganador you can make up for Strega's deficiencies that way.

It depends on the robot. Works fine either way, really, though being able to deploy the combined thing right away saves lots of slots.

That always feels really broken, but the opposite is more infuriating. Again, see the SRX in the OG games. Having to upgrade the individual mechs and then the SRX is bullshit, so yeah, share them.

The combination parts would have to be REALLY good OR there would need to be a mechanic to revive "dead" units in a stage itself because otherwise getting something like a Getter plane hit on a fluke 1% chance = no combination for the stage.

(I'm assuming no quickload abuse because then you might as well quickload for everything)

If the parts aren't good, then the only use for component parts are like scenarios where the enemies are complete glass cannons (or just plain trash) where even a plane can shoot them down and you just need as many actions as you can in a turn (because it's a defense mission or something)

And yet if the combination are good on their own, that leads to the question of whether they should be predeployed in their combined form or have to take up space individually and I don't think anyone really likes the fact the the SRX machines do the latter even if it one-rounds bosses.

It's just a balancing cluster-fuck.

Definitely - otherwise the components will just constantly fall behind as time goes on and players don't upgrade them.

I think it's neat how the old games have all the individual units playable, but they're just... too terrible. Only the rare ones with repair or resupply modules are usable at all, and even then it's very situational.
You could just make all the component units good enough to perform on their own, but in this case it should be required to deploy them individually (otherwise it's just fucking broken if you can deploy 5 good units in one slot). For units with just two or three components, like Godannar or SRX, this method is fine, but for anything bigger it would be a chore and take away too many slots. For those cases I actually like the way the Z series handled it, giving you the main pilot's individual unit first (ideally including an attack where the rest of the team appears) and letting you combine later. I don't really like how you're locked out of using the individual unit later on, it should still be an option just in case you feel like it.

I use resupply-grinding in handheld games to push the level curve ahead. Especially in K, when you're lugging around so much dead weight for the first dozen stages. Which also doesn't have the enemy density to give you enough levels vs how shitty the exp gain is.

Hell I've finished the game multiple times using the PU system all game with pretty much no problem whatsoever. It's fun to see people actually get their final spirits because the level average isn't derped up by Kira/Van/Mist horde all of the kills.

It's not like I get them to 99. I just push the people with resupply in the early game (Stage 3) up to about 45, and that keeps them from derping the level average until I have more than 20 characters. I don't even blackhole kills into the trinity or anything.

I have discovered a problem with my plan for the lady run of D. I was wondering why it was so easy to murder everything.
Doing it on a 2nd lap lets me get Haman cause kill carryover.
But doing it on a 2nd lap also carries over upgrades, so half the units already are fully upgraded (though lap 2 adds 5 more upgrade slots for everything)
It also carries over PP stat upgrades, but that's okay as the girls have a 1/10th the points invested in them.
I wonder if there is a cheat to remove mech upgrades?

I suppose I could let it slide anyway, as the enemies are sure to have been upgraded too, but it would trivialize the early game.

BX is slightly less "Super Locked Unit Wars" than UX, but due to the Aura Power level bottlenecks on Neal, Keene, and Rimul and making it so you can't have unique Twin Aura Cut combos like Marvel in Bilvine and Todd in Dunbine, you end up not really swapping people around. Sirbine is combo-less and locked to the person who's required to be in something that's not Sirbine for every single non-Botune Dunbine combo.

Yay, Victory Gundams. I suppose I'll have to give Katejina the V2 later, as if I recall correctly it needs a NT score for something.

Also this is one of the few games where Noin and Hilde are locked out of the colony Gundams, what a shame, they were the TV units too.

D is pretty good for female pilots, I am nearly at 10 deployable units at stage 9.

64 is really weird about this. Sayaka can do the combo attacks with Jun, Kouji and Boss, but not with Maria, Hikaru or Tetsuya. Jun can do them with Sayaka, Tetsuya and Boss, but not with Kouji, Maria or Hikaru. Maria can do them with Hikaru and Kouji, but not with anyone else.
And Hikaru sucks because she gets neither Hotblood nor Soul, so I'm probably gonna keep Sayaka and Jun in Z and Great and get the MP Great for Maria.

Virtually the only games with Nadesico in it that have ever resembled balancing the fucking thing was A/R. Where they had Nadesico with paper armour in exchange for it's ridiculous offense and barrier so it'd actually take damage.

Really, you have to realize multi pilot mechs in modern SRW's are fucking broken by default because of how the game works. They make even things like Boss Borot amazing.

Really both Z3 and BX have funny ideas of what constitutes balance.

I'm all for making everything viable but the good way to do that is to give things their own gimmicks or uses. Not give everything the same fucking attack range/damage/costs with unrestricted skill part buffs which just homogenizes everything.
