But none have proper .ass /.ssa support. Subtitles aren't rendered properly as it would need the right fonts, and you can't get those fonts onto your tv, I'm sure. On my tv the subtitles are rendered but in just plain white font without any borders, at least. Blends into the background rather annoyingly in bright scenes.
This is also just a gripe with my own model, but using the USB port in the TV itself prevents me from utilising a lot of the features that I use to adjust and perfect the picture for anime. Aspect ratio especially gets screwed since it forces everything 16:9 and there's no way to change it.
So that's why I generally use Handbrake to convert my anime into hardsubbed mp4s, then play it through my xbox, since I can't move my PC to where my television screen is to plug it in via HDMI there. The quality really depends on the settings I choose, but there's usually only a negligible degradation in quality, and what loss there is is not noticeable at the distance I sit from the tv. There are also all sorts of artefact & noise removal features on the tv itself too. Coupled with a pair of headphones, it's a pretty comfy way to watch cartoons in HD, so I don't see what the problem is unless you're a sper/g/, and it's still better than streaming.
Not ideal, I'll admit, but it's what I've been doing for nearly 3 years now and over 2 tvs, and I doubt I'll make the switch to PC any time soon, or until I upgrade.
DeadFish is a shitty group though, they fucking suck at re-encoding (and they're all pretty arrogant as well), like JacobSwaggedUp for example, so I'd advise any one that does use them for airing anime to consider just encoding themselves.

I agree. I am pretty sure that's why she got assigned to him. She's the youngest and probably least seasoned pilot of their crew. If you make an honest effort to teach someone, it forces you to better yourself. It makes the teacher re-examine and refine your fundamentals while exposing you to new ways of doing things. A lot of leads in mecha do. Looking at Gundam for instance you have:
Amuro - tech geek, no piloting skill and learning for a good chunk of the show as a plot point, uses the manual
Kamille - mini mobile suit champion, homo avis champion, karate champion, tech geek
Judau - Only watched a few episodes of ZZ, think he was somewhat experienced thanks to mobile suit work, not a great pilot at first regardless
Seabook - Someone will have to fill me in here, beyond his mom designing the bio-computer (same as Amuro's dad and Kamille's dad designed their suits), I can't recall anything
Uso - parents trained him as a pilot, fighter and survivalist from a young age
Domon - trained as a fighter from a young age
Heero - child soldier, super soldier, experienced pilot
Garrod - experienced pilot and survivor
Loran - experienced pilot, mechanic, still read manual
Kira - experienced computer engineer though he strugged somewhat early on and got better since he wasn't a pilot
Shinn - experienced pilot
Setsuna - child soldier, experienced pilot
Flit - no piloting experience but did design and help build the unit, gets more skill and experience in his show
Asem - training to be a pilot
Kio - trained by Flit since a young age via video games
Bellri - pilot academy and gradeskipper
Mika - experienced soldier who trains in traditional piloting during the show
So out of 18 there's maybe 5 (Amuro, Judua, Seabook, Kira and Flit) that don't have reasons to be good pilots. And putting aside that I'm not sure on some of those like Seabook, some of the rest have experience building them or with their specs etc. That's leaving out the OVA's, all of whom have besides Banagher have reason to be good pilots.
Even going with other shows, you get guys like Koji Kabuto who is a great motorcycle driver and who's pilder controls like a motorcycle for ease of use.

It actually makes sense that it wouldn't have a Macross cannon if the only reason for it to be there is to serve as the HQ for Delta squadron since they've got a specific mission which is to address urban unrest via the Var syndrome so more VFs would be the better idea.
The only time I think a Macross cannon will be justified for this series is if those kingdom of the wind guys brings a fleet of ships over to NUNS space and so they retrofit the Elysion with a Macross cannon gunship.
And I think for Ragna at least they don't need to have the Elysion have a Macross cannon since chances are that the battle section of the main colony is in orbit as part of the defense fleet with a fully functioning Macross cannon. The Elysion was just provided specifically for anti-Var operations.

Problem with that is, you're supposed to have 20/20 vision in order to be a fighter pilot at all. The moment you have to get glasses, you're disqualified from flight duty. Although that rule is tossed out the window more often than not (Max, Basara, Michael).

So having just watched the episode what happened with Hayate when he jumped off the Elysiom? Did he float on an updraft to "ride the wind" like I'd suspect?
Also, the civilian tech in Macross is always cool. I love that you can basically become a Ragnarian with some fin add-ons and the floor holograms in the tram, the weird octopus on that one girl's hair. Whatever it was. Weird they're still using mobile phones, even if they're morphable. Freyja suiting up on the spot says that the hologram tech doesn't even need an undersuit either - it can put on anyone, anywhere. Like the holograms Hikaru and Minmei dance on in DYRL I guess. They just went over normal clothes, but needed a massive base to work.

Several of the Aerial Knights have two of them. You can see them, mostly in the second episode. Both twins have two, though one on each is brushed up on to their head, one of the other guys in that group hanger shot has two visible as well. The one with the short hair has a brief flash of one on his left side, where all the rest are on the right, so I assume he as two and only that one is very briefly visible too.
