There's way too many trailers that do this - protag plays fast and loose with the law, so they get hauled in front of some authority figure who rattles off their rap sheet. Protag cracks wise about it, authority figure smirks, and next thing the auhtority is unleashing protag on a special mission.

The main characters are obvious stand-ins for the viewer/reader who can do no wrong, have all the exceptional abilities because they're the main characters even if the Universe needs a rewrite to accomodate this(sentient lightsabers all of a sudden) and all their allies love them and only live to help them succeed in life.
That is the definition of bad writing, even schlock pulp detective stories from the 40's were better written.
Rey is a horribly written Mary Sue who went through the Hero's Journey in 1 week, and since she can "channel the force" she can do jedi tricks that took Luke 3 movies and 2 force ghosts to learn and fight like a trained warrior, even if we admit Kylo Ren is a shitty sword user.

Finn is a selfish guy who nearly leaves during the film but is drawn back in by his bond with another character. He even gets a speech before hand. He has Han's Legends origin of being a former Stormtrooper, is good with a gun and Han sees him for who he is straight away, with his lines suggesting he's made the same mistakes himself. Finn is quick to lie, but terrible at it and almost always found out quickly and just makes stuff up as he goes along. There's a lot of Han in him. I'm not the same anon, but I'd put him closer to Han than either of the other two mains to be honest, with Poe as Leia and Rey as Luke.

That's in Return of the Jedi and the Death Star II. The original Death Star Plans were stolen by a number of different people in different games, so they converged them in canon as those plans being fragmented. Kyle Katarn gets them in Dark Forces, The rebels in Battlefront II had them on Polis Massa for a short time before the empire came in and fucked shit up, and there's other shit too that I'm not aware of.
I seriously wish the next installation would be something better than just pandering to...i'm too sick and tired to get it on with /pol/ stuff you know.
