Just finished watching Gundam: 08th MS team. Are there any other Gundam or other mecha series that are as /k/-tastic as 08th MS team? I found the more realistic, methodical and tactical fights a really refreshing change of pace from the more ridiculous superduper power attack bullshit that you normally see in giant robot animes, and the military focus with ranks and court-martials going on all the time was interesting too.

Starship Operators is pretty good. They actually engage from beyond visual range and rely on clever tactics and lots of planning instead of the usual flashly slugging matches you see in anime when two starships are fighting each other. It's still the usual anime levels of "realism" where lots of retarded stuff happens. I rank it pretty close to 08th MS Team with how the "realism" aspect is portrayed.
