So what's everyone's thoughts on the Legend movies? It's nice to get the early stuff redone in much better animation. It sucks not having the original voice cast, though. I guess all those big names were just way too expensive.

I wish we could get an Initial D that still had the absurdly skilled driving, but more realistic depictions of it. Like actually seeing someone string together a series of hairpins in a manner that makes you impressed with their skill, not 20-second long shots of a car sliding around an infinite bend.
It just makes it harded to enjoy for me when they're clearly driving around some Escher-eque nightmare road.

Watch the show again sometime. They often show a car drifting so quickly around a bend for so long that they must have looped around in a circle several timed by the end of the shot, just so they can show the car sliding for longer. That's what I'm talking about.

Don't get me wrong: I really do like Initial D. That's just one nitpick I wish would change. But maybe doing so would cause the show to lose some of its character, I dunno. It seems like they could have just as long a shot but have it in even slower motion so it doesn't look like the car had covered an absurd amount of ground during it.

I get what you're saying but I think it would detract a bit from the charm of the show. Remember that Keiichi Tsuchiya was an advisor for the show to ensure the driving was "realistic".
It's strange how he hasnt killed anybody with that crazed driving.

The time something is on screen in a tv show never directly correlates to actual time in universe.
I'm honestly surprised this bothers you since almost all video media (especially animated) has a very loose grasp on time. Things take however long or short they need too.
