It's on DVD, licensed in America. "The Movie" is just the OVA one after another.
But I wouldn't say no to a BD rip, if one even exists. Or just a fan remastered DVD upscale thing, honestly.

As a Macross series it's mediocre (aside from the music, which was awesome, and then there's the canon stuff), as an OVA, it feels like your average late-80s/early-90s sci-fi romp. Not bad or good, just sort of there. I don't know about Japanese fans, but a lot of American fans (including a lot of the locals here on /m/) are super serious types who hate fun, so they praise II for not being as "out there" as some of the later sequels.

I find it completely boring. I mean, for the time it came out, it feels weirdly by the numbers for a sci-fi OVA instead of something in the Macross universe. Also, for some reason I don't think I gave a shit about a single character in it.

This one. 7 seems to get a lot of hate, and Delta wasn't getting much love after the first episode premiered. The less serious Gundam shows get grief, but so do the more serious ones for "autism" - I think autism became en vogue on 4chan during the years in between my more active periods... I suppose Patlabor TV gets some love, but that seems to be an exception...

I dunno about the rest of /m/, but I just think the music and idorus suck donkey balls in Delta, at least compared to Frontier. Not nearly as much soul as the previous series, but we've got time I guess.

When the preview episode premiered it was a split reaction, but now that the complete first episode has aired the reactions to it have been overwhelmingly positive. Just look at the past threads on /m/ and /a/ since the day it aired. Almost everyone loves it.
