So I'm finally working my way through the Getter manga and just started Go. I hit pic related and got curious...

Who was the first mecha to do the "put fists together and pull out an energy weapon when they bring them apart" thing? I first saw it in G Gundam, and now Go, which is older than that, but I'm guessing someone did it before this.

Also general "who was the first mecha to (thing)?" thread. I'm sure some of you guys have similar questions that someone on /m/ could answer in a heartbeat.

That's one of my favorite /m/ things.
I know Dangaioh does it to draw the Sidekick Pyschic Sword.

Gundam Wing (first mecha ever made)
Robotech (first american made mecha)

Ginguizer does this to draw out a chain with a blade on each end.

>First and only good
I agree. Lagaan was the first good bollywood movie.
>>
>>14076697
That is true. And that was 1977. If nothing predates that, Ginguiser might actually have a respectable claim to fame.

Is Berserga from Armored Trooper Votoms the first mecha to use Pile Bunker?

Oldest I know of. Anyone know of something using it before 1983?

Mazinger Z was the first piloted mecha
>>

While not necessarily an energy weapon, the oldest super robot anime I have seen to conjure up a weapon by putting its hands together is probably Ginguiser.

Nope.
>>
>>14080895
Not that anon, but what was? I remember reading it was some weird background thing in a manga or... something, but fuck if I remember any of the details.
>>
>>14080922
I remember what you're talking about, but I don't remember the details either. I think it was just a random MotW in a toku manga? I'm unfamiliar with the source material.

In terms of other firsts, wasn't Gunbuster one of the first mechs to have a certain number of on-screen kill counts? I thought I remember reading somewhere that Gunbuster had the highest on-screen kill count of any mecha for a while. I'm assuming this is the scene in question:

It invented the pile bunker. Widely recorded known fact.

That robot wasn't piloted. The scientist didn't control it directly.

So bringing up valid counterpoints is shitposting now? You want to assert something, but have no proof and instead just say anyone who disagrees or points out the flaws in your unsupported claims is shitposting. If anything, you are the shitposter.

it says that the robot lost the Electroscope and when he cant fix it (the Doctor Blum was unconscious) he puts fire and said: "Prisoner never!"

i'm a mazingerfag and i know mazinger wasn't the first to do it

it's irrelevant to bring it up because mazinger got popular for other reasons.

so yeah, you can go suck it, retarded western shit

also fuck off spic
>>
I think Mazinger was just the first tv anime to have a piloted mecha
>>
>>14083391

Yeah and it was piloted, no matter what people try to say otherwise. It's pretty clear it was. And Nagai was Ishinomori's assistant during that series. Not implying anything, though. Maybe he forgot about it, but still had the idea on his subconscient.
>>
>>14083187
There's nothing really worth translating in that article. It just states over and over that Audaz was the first piloted giant robot, beating the American "Bozo the Iron Man" by one year and anything by Yokoyama or Nagai by several years/decades, so it should get credit and shit. It offers very little information on the comic itself, only the names of the main characters and a description of the control room ("a glass dome on top of the robot's head with a lot of buttons and levers").

I've literally never heard of this before. My mind is kinda blown right now.
>>
Did God Bless Dancouga invent the signature "ridiculously oversized energy sword" attack?
>>
/m/ - mecha was the first mecha to talk about off topic garbage like tokushit and western trash
>>
>>14087002
It wasn't piloted. It was an automaton.
>>
>>14087117
I was talking about the comic itself, I can found some pages, but not the full comic and of course, the resolution of the images are shit and barely can be read.
>>
>>14083187
>>14087117
>>14087828
I still don't see any images of him actually piloting the thing

Just let people judge by themselves them. I just don't know what that guy would be doing there if it's a automaton (which is never mentioned in the story, by the way), but ok.

Sounds like he has some control over the robot. And it's controlling it from inside. What's that called again? Oh yeah, piloting.
>>
>>14088611
>>14088615
I don't see him manipulating any controls or making any direct commands. Lack of proof.
>>
>>14088615

They dont show controls. Clearly that is just a fancy themed restaurant that the old man happens to be having lunch in when the automaton goes on a rampage.

>>14088636

There. It takes quite a bit of control of a robot to make it hesitate and stop in its tracks like that
>>
>>14088742
It wouldn't make sense for a robot to make a hesitant gesture even if you were piloting it, though.
>>
>>14088754

Then it wouldn't make sense for an automaton to hesitate like this either, right when it's clearly about to do something and it only decides to stop just because the granddaughter starts yelling at her grandpa
>>
>>14088793
It doesn't make sense either way.
