Why didn't Quattro ever have the Hyaku Shiki repainted red like his Rick Dias?
Didn't he feel like a tremendous tool flirting about in a shiny golden robot?
And it's not like the situation with the Zeong where he just didn't have time to have it painted red. He flew in it all the way until Haman drops some debris on him.

There is nothing the Hyaku Shiki actually needs in space in the lower legs, that is fairly the most logical place to strip armour from.
It carries a shield in some background shot in the movies, Char traditionally doesn't really use them because IT DOESN'T MATTER IF IT DOESN'T HIT YOU

Hyaku Shiki was developed by Anaheim's Zeta Project. Word is Quattro specifically asked for the gold paint job to make it insulting to the Titans that it was more or less produced right under their nose and they didn't see it coming.
