huh?
>>14060371
Thunderbolt MS have a lot of discrepancies with vanilla UC suits, just don't think about it too hard
>>14060371
What feature? To stand still?
>>14060418
The docking port on the chest.
>>14060371
OP what the hell are you talking about?
>>14060421
My RG Zaku II has it, so I would assume its not exactly Thunderbolt-specific. That whole rig is just to make it easier for the cripples to get in and out safely, since they don't have perfect mobility.
>>14060430
Do you really need legs on space? You would need jetpacks instead.
>>14060435
Legs are for pushing off and grabbing things as a last resort. The whole reason the Walking Dead are primarly snipers is because they suck shit at using their limbs to control a Mobile Suit normally.
WTF i hate zakus
>>14060371
They always had the side of the chest open and I think the docking thingy is just for the Living Dead division
>>14060921
The docking thing is part of the shuttle. The Zaku has a normal cockpit.
>>14060371
>option of entering/exiting through the hatch in front of the cockpit or through the empty part where the cockpit isn't at
I like this.
I'm pretty sure a bunch of different zaku models have different style chestplates and cockpit hatches, so it probably doesn't work with all of them. there's a picture out there showing how all the gelgoog cockpit hatches are horribly inconsistent, even if they are mostly different gelgoog variants (some flip over or under, others are sliding doors, etc)
I'm pretty sure that gattle was specially modified to have that docking lip, though.
>>14061219
>>14061219
The RG has a left sided cockpit hatch that matches the thunderbolt's design, which is the same as the 0079 design.
>>14061238
That's fine, they're all F types, aren't they?
>>14061269
Technically no.
>>14061224
>ReGelgu has two different doors in ZZ
What the fug?
>>14061238
Katoki revised the mechanical designs for the Thunderbolt anime, so that's probably why
>>14060935
yes.
this guy is right.
now, everyone post Zeon mobile suits
>>14061238
Actually, the cockpit's on the right side of the Zaku's torso in Thunderbolt. The seat slides back, and the pilot has go through the empty left side if he's exiting through the left hatch/shuttle dock.
>>14066178
>>14066178
>>14066193
Seems like a lot of wasted space. Unless the tunnel is only there when entering and exiting, like stuff moves through there when in normal operation.
Based on conventional Zaku design, the cockpit is on one of the chest slots while the reactor is in the other. It should be noted that the Thunderbolt Zaku is a completely different beast as the cockpit is comprised of a full 180 degree view of the battle field as opposed to 3 screens. Not withstanding
>>14060435
Go away MiP, you already lost the contract to Zeonic with that thinking with AMBAC.
>>14060444
Major misconception (see picture)
>>14066401
It's in the Origin design notes as some sort of dumb airlock.
It doesn't seem like anyone's realized this, but the Zaku II design was intended to have a cockpit on the right side of the chest, but with a tunnel leading to a cockpit door on the left side of the chest. The seat actually moves along a track on the interior floor and brings the pilot to the door. It also has a "widescreen" curved cockpit display which is sort of "180 degrees" (not really, but you get the idea).
And no, this is not the Origin or Thunderbolt version, this is the 0079 design by Okawara.
>>14072694
At least it clears up >>14066178 >>14066193 because it's hard to see shit in the animation
>>14072694
On the other hand the novel description refers to climbing over the dashboard.
>>14060421
That's how you enter the cockpit, dumbass, it's been there since episode 1 of MSG
Fuck is cukchan full of newfags?
I also found this scan from a databook called "MS-06 Archives", which also confirms that right side cockpit and left side access for the Zaku II F type (and presumably every other variant that shares the same/similar chest).
>>14072694
Forgot to say, the source of that scan is the "Great Mechanics" databook for the Zaku II.
>>14072718
You are talking about the MSG novels, right? I'd consider the novel to be a different continuity. MS development is different there, and the suits aren't the exact same from 0079. For example, the GM keeps the core fighter from the Gundam design rather than cutting it out, and there's no other later Zeon MS, Zeon just straight up develops the Rick Dom as their next generation suit (no Gelgoog) and it comes with a beam bazooka and -beam- sabre as standard weapons.
>>14072730
Also, MS-06 Archive databook also mentions a different Zaku II cockpit design with a central placement and large front hatch which explains 08th MS Team's take on it (>>14061219).
A little bit of trivia, the Borjarnons from Turn A have the 08th MS Team style cockpit hatch instead of the 0079 cockpit hatch.
>>14072735
I'm guessing we're meant to take that as Zaku's used for combat on Earth had their cockpits altered to that design?
>>14072745
Could be, but the Zakus that show up to rescue Aina have the centered cockpit and large hatch as well. It'd complicate things for Zeon to have a Zaku with "earth use cockpit hatch" and "space use cockpit hatch", though.
I'm gonna be talking out of my ass because I can't read any of the Japanese on the scans, but I -guess- it might be that earlier model Zakus had the off centre cockpit and access tunnel and then later they started to adopt a centered cockpit. All of the later Zaku variants tend to have centered cockpits rather than a cockpit and tunnel side by side.
