***READ THE GUIDE***

For those new to gunpla/plamo or even just new to this thread; please read the guide. Please read it before asking questions as there is a chance it has already been answered there.
For those unfamiliar, "plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model". If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here.
If you're new, you're gonna fuck up. Don't worry! If you're experienced, dont make the new people worry!
>Why won't anyone answer my question?
Try being specific, especially about your materials and process. Post pictures whenever possible; even if the kit/part looks bad, you are more likely to get help posting pictures.

So I am working on a thing how bad am I doing...

I have like 12 heat hawks now thanks to my zaku fetish I wanted to build a double headed poleaxe heat hawk...

I'm currently considering taking a needle a lighter and maybe melting some runner plastic to connect it. Is this a good or bad idea?

Nah I just have eyes, open windows and turn on lights anon. I dust a few times a month, it takes literally five minutes and it's part of keeping my house clean because I haven't lived with my parents in years. When you move you you'll learn too

>Not modding your own

Gunpla's pretty casual as far as modeling goes. You niggers are pretty sad if you can't mod shit like that into kits, and instead whine about not being able to fork over $100 on an exclusive kit. Back in the day, you'd be lucky if kits had any amount of detail, and even then, most pro level modelers just end up sanding a lot of shit down and making their own details themselves, down to the rivets and such. There's nothing on there you can't make yourself if you try hard enough.

Minus the box art, I guess. If you're really into boxes, then that's another story
>>
>>14055047

>>

The base model itself (Zaku 2.0 MG) is worth ~$30. Fancy decals to me, while look bitching as fuck, are not worth that extra 70 dollars. I would rather hand paint it.

I'd cut a small piece of plastic to fit the wedge area, plastic cement it in place, fill gaps with a touch of putty, and then apply knifework and sandpaper to bring it to shape.

Doing some paint tests today and I noticed there's some minor orange peel effect happening to my spoons. Any idea on the cause of this? It happens when using both Rustoleum Chrome Gold and Krylon Short-Cuts Gold.

It did rain yesterday, so could it be because the humidity? I didn't think that would be the cause because it's a little over 60 degrees out.

>safety nubs on the rx-78 in the box
Why do they do this
>>
>>14055148
Try a hobby store first. Look for Tamiya putty
>>
>>14055028

The stickers don't adhere or fit well and will make it look bad. The gold waterslides are so laughably useless I wouldn't even bother.

Just buy a gold sharpie and if you're really lazy a black fine point pen to fill in the outside edges to make the lines clean.
Better to clean up the lines properly but your call, just giving you the easiest solution since you're even considering the stickers
>>
>>14055201
Aside from helping keep thr recommended age down by eliminating sharp pieces, it also protects thin pieces from snapping off in the packaging during transport.

would a gold gundam marker work also?
I literally dont know how to paint anything, i guess this would be a good time to learn but i dont even know where to get them paints, or an airbrush, or the topcoat (i'm foreign) plus i dont have MONEY for that right now.
>>
Gold gundam marker is fine, it's pretty much the same as a gold sharpie.

I didn't even mention painting or airbrushing, you don't have to be so defensive about it
>>
>>14055209
>>14055298
>>14055304
Whatever option you choose, Sinanjuanon, make sure you top coat those pattern pieces afterwards.
>>
>>14055304
uh yeah i was talking about painting cause everyone seems to do reverse washes for those kind of details.
When i DO get the tools to properly paint my kits, will i be able to get rid of the gundam marker paint to then do it properly?
>>
>>14055341
Yeah, no paint is permanent. If you plan on removing it, don't topcoat it right away or you'll just create more work for yourself.
>>
>>14055334
>>14055355
Thanks for the help guys, i wanna learn more, where would i go to learn about topcoating? i was using laymans gunpla website.
I suppose i shoud just wait until i have paint and the topcoat material to paint in the decals, right? I could use the waterslides then take them off afterwards, mmm?
>>
>>14055381
You could do all that
or you could just build it, wait to have all the materials then finish it so you're not creating a ton of extra work for yourself.

Read the guide in the op, that guide is fine too, Falldog is a really good builder

If the kit's decals are anything like the wrap-around decals on the SxDxG Gundam that I built not too long ago, the decals for Fumina's sexy yoga shorts will be pretty fucking awful unless you have good painting skills.

It's a shame that this kit was a dud. I'd like to see more Gundam Girls (like the Frame Arms Girls models), but it's probably not going to happen again.

Curious, how would you go about strapping the Hi-nu's "backpack" onto a Zeta Plus?
>>
>>14057088
Building a new back for the Z+ or a special adapter.

The Z+ uses a unique back piece with no standard connections. It has 2 square peg slots for the wings to attach to and a 3rd central one for the main wing.

Meanwhile the Hi-Nu uses 3 pegs which the Wings slot into from above.

So you're either bashing part of the Hi-Nu onto the Z+ or you're making a new connection entirely.

Thanks, this is exactly the info I was looking for.

I'm wondering if I could mount the Wings onto their connector and then maybe shave and cement that adapter onto the Zeta Plus. I might have to stuff any excess space.

I'll keep looking for pictures (I don't have either kit), but thanks a lot.

I like the Zeonic MS that got kits, the Stark Jegan and the Kshatriya.

>>
>>14057200
I'm not a fan of most, but the Jesta and her variants, the Delta Plus, and the ReZEL in particular, just do something for me.

I'm somewhat partial to the Sinanju and I think it's the best UC "Char" suits.

I can't really ever decide if I like the Banshee or not.

I feel like I'd like it if it had the Unicorn's color scheme and Horn with navy highlights.

The Unicorn modes are just really gross.

On the description of the Action Base 1 it states it can hold both 1/144 and 1/100 scale models, but would it still be better to get the action base 2 then? I also intend to get a MG kit soon so I would prefer if I can use it for that too.
>>
>>14057619

AB1 can fit HGs but it's quite large for them; you almost never see HG's on them for that reason. If you're going to get an MG for it soon anway it might not be a big deal because the Zaku can stand on its own pretty well. I also suggest the clear action base, they are nice and help with the size issue.

Working on a 1/100 mobile worker truck. It looks like shit at the moment because I just added the putty (I am not a very neat scratchbuilder and my adjustments with a knife left some gaps that needed filling) and the entire thing needs a good sanding down before I add the truck bed and start the bottom half. What's the best grit for roughing down nub marks, 320 or 400?
>>
>>14058506

Do you mean removing the last part of the nub or getting rid of the stress mark?

If you want to get rid of the last remnants of the nub, use something around 600-800 grit and finish it off with 1000+ grit.

If you want to get rid of the stress marks/discoloration, you're usually shit out of luck. Painting over them would help, a flat topcoat hides them a little as well.

Amiami takes a bit longer than Amazon, provided you have Prime, because they're shipping from Japan. I've had kits come to me the next day via Amazon Prime. Usually Amiami is good for preorders and stuff, because they usually have good discounts on preorders, while Amazon can be good for stuff that's already out, but it's better if you've got Prime.

Also, Amiami will have older kits restocked every once in a while, at really good prices, so it's good to check it every so often.

It's fine to leave them on if that's what you want, but removing them really is easy
Just use your nippers to cut off about 75% then lay the fin on your finger with the nub facing up, and use sandpaper/nail file to slowly remove the rest
Key word being slowly, because removing material is easier then adding it back on cause you sanded at a bad angle
Afterwords just rub the plastic with our fingernail to smooth it back out
