Bandai said it was a financial success because it was a continuation of a runaway success and they didn't have the balls to admit that they cheaped out on and through their own stupidity completely ran something that was pokemon/yokai watch tier money maker that appealed to all demographics.

That's actually illegal to do as well. Publicly traded companies can't say something is selling great if it isn't to their shareholders because it's misrepresenting their sales and product value.
As you said, if something is seriously a financial failure, they'll downplay it and try not to bring it up rather than outright lying and risking getting caught.

The only reason we couldn't completely dismiss a S2 was because of McGillis machinations. If IBO turns out to be as cheap as it looks like there's no reason Banrise wouldn't make her, even if just as an experiment.
