Is there such a thing as too many weapons on a mobile suit? What is your ideal limit?
Not particularly I'm an Ork at heart so the more Guns the better If they make Heavy Arms look under-gunned they are doing the right thing

A rifle + a melee weapon is enough. And probably with extra head vulcans.
You know you've reached too many weapons when they start calling your machine a mobile armor. That's just about the only limit they need.

My experience with AC tells me that dual wielding a rapid fire rifle and a heavy rifle + shoulder missiles is both the minimum and maximum.

When you're cramming weapons onto every possible spot on the machine, you're going too far in my book unless it's a one-off thing where they're going to discard most of the weapons as the fight goes on. I actually don't mind FA Unicorn too much, for instance, since it only has the weapons once and quickly discards them as they run dry. Something like the Thunderbolt machines or Strike Freedom, in contrast, are just laughably overdesigned.
Heavyarms Gundam is actually a good example of how to do something that's got a lot of weapons but looks good: most of the weapons are concealed, and when it runs dry it's actually even more dangerous because now it's mostly hollow and extremely light and agile.

I mean, look at those pec-cannons, those calf missiles, the sheer number of barrels. At the same time, it isn't overloaded with useless fins and backpacks. She's a beaut.
The Amazing Red Warrior is a good example of where I draw the line. The requirement for me is that it has to be able to carry all the weapons without looking fucking retarded.
