>Mika basically begs his Gundam to give him more power.

Not that Barbatos is literally talking to him, but that the imagery and analogies used alludes to the Ars Goetia and Barbatos namesake.

Given how Mikazuki got it to remove the safety limits by just asking it to, it's a very real possibility they were going for a metaphor towards Barbatos origins.

Hell, the thing even looks more in line with fucking Nagai's work than Gundam/Tomino in some ways, what with how skeletal it is and the V fin being more like oni horns (especially when you consider it fights with a club).

That and the choice to use Barbatos was deliberate when there were 71 other demons to choose from (assuming it was the first Gundam Frame designed for the series).

Dude. People were saying as soon as last week's ep aired that the waifus probably weren't dead. Shino was banged up and bleeding in a damaged cockpit but that was it, it was clear he'd be fine. Lafter, likewise, got pretty freaking blatantly vague one, just a shot of some blood spatter. Azee was the best case for dying, but there again, the -machine- was hit on the head, not her. She was slumped over, forward, in her cockpit, and for all the blood on her, the top of her head was intact. Things that just didn't add up to death, especially in a show that had literally shown one guy get flattened into a bloody smear under a mobile suit foot, another get batted into a bloody stain in the snow, another get impaled on a giant katana, the life fading from Carta's eyes.

It's your own fault for falling for it.

To steal a metaphor from another anon, IBO is like ordering your favourite meal and when you get it it's completely raw and uncooked, and then someone like you goes "wow you got everything you asked for why don't you like it".
>>
>>14051169
>it's completely raw and uncooked
And someone also took a shit on it.
>>
>>14050893
>Things that just didn't add up to death
The gusion pilot takes a 30ft sword through his body and theres not a drop of blood.
Lafter takes a drill to the cockpit, we see a big gush of blood, theres a squelching noise and we're supposed to believe she came out of that just fine? but hey its super vague, just like that guy who got stomped in his cockpit by mikas foot, we never see the body so i guess by your logic he must be still alive.
In that episode carta takes a few knocks from mika, is banged up and bleeding in a damaged cockpit but that was it, it was clear she'd be fine. Oh no wait she died. Same shit happens to norba and he's bleeding out of every orifice and he comes out smiling
Azee's scene was the least vague and the most misleading. azee looks up (despite there being no monitor there), axe comes down, and the shot zooms straight into her eye. This would imply the axe had come down straight into her head. thats just how editing works. and again this shows pretty tame, the most we'll get is blood spurts, its still a kids show at the end of the day so theyre not going to show azee's caved in face or lafters blendered body even if those things had happened. the gusion pilot may have got a grim death but he's an ugly evil adult and not your waifu. so when you see azee drenched in blood after that previous scene and her face obscured what are people going to believe?
its not just bullshit because they survived all that, theres also the fact that it makes everything ein did completely pointless

So you know already that the show's been inconsistent in displaying severe injury and death (which is actually more realistic, using blood as some go to implication of illness/death is a cliche trope... reality is unrealistic), why would you believe the show would somehow be consistent there?

>theres also the fact that it makes everything ein did completely pointless

Info from GMG 2016 Spring:
-Purple is the most expensive paint, white is the cheapest but gives more visibility
-Ahab Reactor was invented by a scientist called Ahab
-Ahab particles are used in MS's Anti-G System and ship's pseudo gravity generator
-Ahab Waves jam communication and guided weaponry in the area, for long distance communication dedicated relay machines are used
-Each Seven Stars clan has a Gundam used by the founding member in the war, while other surviving ones are in different situations
-There's a theory that less than 10 MS using the Valkyria Frame were produced. It's easy to use and has high mobility so it was refined into the current Graze
-AV System is necessary to display the Gundam Frame's potential from the dual Ahab Reactors.
-In frequent combat the Barbatos's mobility fell, so the Flight Unit was added.
-Mortars are available in MS size
-6th's Ritter shoulder armor was selected for its higher strength for long battles
-Schwalbe Graze aimed for high output while sacrificing stability at the request of high level pilots like McGillis
-Here it says the Hyakuri is developed by Teiwaz, the backpack also has an Ahab Wave detection Sensor. It also says the base for Teiwaz development was the high output MS from the end of the War, mentioned in the Hyakuren manual. Teiwaz wanted to compete with pirates with their own forces so it began MS development.
-The other Seven Stars founding members could be also ship commander in addition to MS pilots
-GJ gets lots of tax revenue from the blocs
-Fareed clan is about 3 seats below the Bauduins, Issue is the most prestigious.
-Mika's 3 AV System surgeries means that he has higher rate of information exchange than others
-Spinner Rodi's back waist weapon is a two-handed hammer, a tool used in colonies that doubles as a weapon.
-Valkyria Blades are made of a rare metal that's even tougher than the Gundam Frame but not enough to make 1 MS body. This tech has been lost.

>AV System is necessary to display the Gundam Frame's potential from the dual Ahab Reactors.

I call bullshit. The AV system was an addition to Barbatos. If Gundams require it to be awesome it would have been standard issue.
>>
>>14060354
It is standard issue.
>>
>>14060245
How is McGillis going to fund Gjallarhorn now? Those blocs are going to stop funding the group after what happened in Episode 25.

>>
>>14060389

Well GJ still the only group that can (as of S1) make new Ahab Reactors so maybe while everyone is building up their military they'll be licensing/selling their older tech to make the other economic blocs happy for a little bit.

>the fact that it makes everything ein did completely pointless
This is a point which needs expanded on

In Zeta it is kinda bullshit that Four survived, but it leads to a few good episodes so most let it go. What did unkilling those 3 lead to? Like 2 or 3 scenes where they added nothing to the show. These characters did fuck all important before and after mostly just getting 10 second appearances in the very rare fights and then of course the random gay scenes which added nothing. All this does is make Ein look worse in every way, undermine the tension and the gritty feeling the shows was going for

>inb4 But maybe in S2 so maybe
Fuck off, S2 is another show 6 months away. I am judging S1 which doesn't stand up. Never mind the show has a habit of completely ignoring characters for the rest of the show once it did something with them

Were we supposed to feel bad for the antagonists in this show? I genuinely don't know. On one hand, they feel pretty lolevil and goofball. On the other hand we have scenes like this and the one where Carta dies to galigalis arms and our heroes being generally pretty heartless towards them so I can't help but to sympathize with them. But i don't know if I'm supposed to. Maybe I'm too stuck with the usual gundam UNDERSTANDING where the MC at least sometimes feels bad about killing.

>>14051271

A lot of it is just forced enthusiasm. It's like the forced outrage we see on university campuses today. I guess it must be a millenial thing.

Besides, you should have seen the G-Recofags when that show was airing.
>>
>>14063160
What are you thinking? You can't say that stuff here.

Well, ask yourself if there was any solid evidence of that Tomino Q&A ever happened, or if the translation was accurate. If it was the same post I looked at some time ago, even some people there called it into question, and never got a reassuring answer.

>>14063354
Aren't late-teens and some early-twenties post-millennial? What some call Centennials. Unless everyone's decided to extend the definition of Millennial until they're done casually belittling age groups with buzzwords.

It pains me to see unanimous praise for IBO in some places. It's hard to see how someone can get through that final episode without being bored. The only part that gave me any strong emotion was the image of Gaelio's sister unknowingly living a long, happy life in the arms of her brother's killer.

The one chance of redemption is Tekkadan being revealed as a thoroughly terrible thing. I guess it might still be in the works, but I can't stand IBO's heroics. I prefer the classic UC approach, where the heroes have to suck it up and fight for sleazy Federation assholes, because the best hope for the future is choosing the least of many evils rather than some shiny ideal. (AEUG might contradict that, but it's arguable.)

pretty sure 4chan is the only place where threads about a certain franchise are covered in heavy criticism of said franchise
i mean, if you go to some random anime forum nd visit the subforum of some shitty anime, what you'll find there are probably going to be fans of that shitty anime who will think that anime is the greatest thing ever

it's like that for pretty much every show

>The AV system was an addition to Barbatos.
Pretty sure they said that the reason they had to use a MW's AV is that the CGS boss had sold those parts since they weren't needed (since they were only using Barbatos as a generator).
>>
>>14063558
But even then if you saw the reactions on said subforums when AGE and G-Reco was airing it was mostly criticism.

>choosing the least of many evils
You do, of course, realize that the only thing Tekkadan "won" was payment for their job. The sleazy weapons merchant, the sleazy space yakuza boss, and the teamkilling usurper all came out way ahead because of what Tekkadan did. This is not a "happily ever after" kind of ending, this is a "Victory, you say? No, master Obi Wan, not victory....begun, the clone war has" kind of ending.

That's true, and I noticed it. I'm referring more to presentation than plot. The music, the dialogue, the maneuvers. Despite that seed of doubt which was blonde-lady-who-works-for-Tekkadan-on-behalf-of-Teiwaz, the show goes too far out of its way to make Tekkadan look noble, unstained by their associations with schemers like Fareed, Teiwaz-boss, and earlobe-man.

I haven't checked out the ones for AGE, but I'd say that's very, very true for G-Reco. Poor, poor G-Reco, too pure for this world.

Nope, the cockpit was stripped out and sold as scrap along with other bits of Barbatos, the guy that owned the CGS.

>>14063622
I don't think it will end as poorly as the clone wars did.

So does anyone else know what Gjallarhorn's role is?
>>
>>14064067
Yeeouch. I hope there's nobody who's honestly willing to shell out money for any of those.

Assuming it's their own money.

It seems, by law, they have jurisdiction over everything. Earth Sphere, Mars Sphere, the space between, probably the Jupiter Sphere as well, except they just don't bother to exert their control as much, so you get criminal syndicates like Teiwaz growing strong there. Their job is to maintain the balance of power between the four economic blocs of Earth, and their respective colonies/areas of influence on Mars, making sure none of the four collapses or takes over another.

Their control over the four economic blocs isn't absolute, and the blocs have degrees of autonomy, like when the Oceanians tried to prevent Gjallarhorn from entering the territory where Kudelia and the old man were meeting. I didn't see any evidence of military forces specific to an economic bloc, more as if the blocs have powers over Gjallarhorn diplomatically. Gjallarhorn can't just do anything they want because one or more blocs will decide that the benefits of Gjallarhorn's protection and stabilization aren't worth it, and rebel.

And yet none of that was ever shown or was a negative for anybody else but the antagonists.

Millennial spans from around 1982-1999

They didn't have the right to pursue Tekkadan in Abrau apparently. They apparently didn't have the right to stop Kudelia. They don't have the right to declare beard politician a terrorist and stop him from being elected as a criminal.
Apparently they also needed an excuse to arrest Kudelia.

Gjallarhorn doesn't have any legal ability to exert itself.
