Overall story? No clue. Maybe some anti-Mars revolution hate, Tekkadan actively hunted down again (please no), or an economic disaster started war that results from the new regulations and Tekkadan is needed as a result.
I'm fairly sure S2 is going to have Mika slowly but surely lose more of his body's use as he taps into Barbados more until he's more or less Ein level. Or whatever Gundam they decide to use since S2 always have a switch over since the older suit becomes irreverent and is destroyed somehow.

It's incredible just how uneventful this show was. It's even more shocking how the battle to get into the city could easily been stretched for a few more episodes (planning, battles for day 1-2, then cut to ep 24, and 25).

Orga making more questionable decisions with Tekkadan getting bigger. One thing that disappointed me in ending was shrugging off the whole YOU ARE USING CHILD SOLDIERS deal.
Kudelia using connections and thinking about logistic. Stuff with setting up their alternative transport line and making sure they have their man in parliament was promising. Give me more of that.
It's obvious it will come down to McGillis (single genius pilot/leader/politician) vs Mika, Orga and Kudelia (team pilot-leader-politician).
Season 1 main problem is that it was playing it safe as a set up for season 2 with "our first big job" type of plot. Unlike 00 they kept the bar low, which is why not much happened. Let's hope that that in the end they can jump high.

I may see it wrong but it seems Gjallahorn has served its purpose since the calamity war and now has become a corrupt military organization almost dictatorship that may or may not also affect balance of wealth and powers on Earth.
Its already really clear martians and those in Jupiter and maybe other colonies we dont know about are seen as inferior who knows how well some of the blocks on earth are treated? It feels like it can be a powder keg that blows in season 2. Orga gets approached to lead a rebellion or their group aid in training at first only to become the tip of the spear so to say with their experience against Gjallahorn.
Weve already seen some other minor factions, who knows how many have gundam frames, or their own rodi model? Maybe one of the factions mass produces a gm of the series to the zaku reference of the graze?

Season 1 will be treated as a military and pr coup by choco char and his friends in the mafia and that politician that they sacrificed so many to get re-elected.
A small almost bloodless civil war constructed after years of proper planning and also taking advantage of useful tools and opportunity.
The grazes will be revealed to be cheap garbage used to keep weaklings in line. Something that a military organization with all encompassing power can get away with putting forth.
Mars will break out into a full on civil war with the world being divided up and companies like tekkadan, the mafia, and pirates all vying for their own nations and empires.
Tekkadan, who was busy "saving mars" are seen as heroes and hundreds of miles of martian soil are claimed in the name of tekkadan.
Orga and Mika will get back and find out that they have a small nation of people to look after. Orga will begin to take this very seriously.

First to get it out of the way; we're gonna get a flashy first episode with intriguing world building that gets squandered on a lackluster show that goes nowhere.
secondly, the blocks are going to quickly begin rearming in the face of gjallahorn's fall from grace. They're still going to be around and Grazes are going to be the most numerous suit for years to come, but we're going to watch a lot of blocks and companies churning out or buying mobile workers of various types, some new prototype and limited production MS based off of first-run new and salvaged gjallahorn reactors, plenty of battlefield salvage units, more refurbished Man and Spinner Rodis, and at least one other Gundam come out to play. If we're lucky, we'll see a newly rebuilt Tekkadan HQ (assuming they make it home) and several rebuilt Graze Customs forming Tekkadan's new MS corps, AV systems installed in the new workers they got, Mika's arm either heals or he gets a new one, and they get a few more new toys from Teiwaz. Other Martian PMCs are likely to pop up in some way and the various space blocs are guaranteed to fuck with stuff somehow.
Of course we'll just get another wet-noodle road trip and nothing really happens for 15 episodes. Chocochar makes his move in episode 22, Barbatos and Mika go nuts, something goes wrong, we miss another fight, but Everyone Lives yet again. Bravo Okada.

From the web teaser and people shouting "It's a shot of an incomplete suit! It'll have armor once it's announced!" to this latest "Oh he totally killed them, no way they could survive that!". If the show starts acting like an actual Gundam series, we'll get a time-skip after which Tekkadan will be remembered as heroes, but their own story will start getting explored and exposed by some new band of rebels, who will reframe their victories as villainous acts and cruel crimes. And so, Tekkadan will become the villains of the second half, and hopefully get some of their deserved comeuppance. Maybe with some undeserved comeuppance on the side as well.

It could actually work. Unlike Destiny, where Kira had to be rushed and mischaracterized into an unconvincing "villain", IBO already has a villanous as fuck, psychopath of a protagonist who you already want dead even while he's supposed to be the bad guy and you're supposed to be rooting for him.
