Same reason why Cowboy Bebop didn't have a continuation and one of the famous legend in anime history. They had an ending and sticked to that, imagine if they made a continuation, it will be a big disappointment.

well I've only read volume 1. and there's 3 volumes out.
but in volume one its you're standard gundam. Young kids go see the new federation ship that has a Gundam, Guncannon, and Guntank. but these kids are like 10 not 15. so the gundam pilot is some 28 military dude. 25 year girl pilots the guncannon. the kids sneak into the restricted area, the gundam pilot stops them. after some dialog the Zeons attack and theres a fight. and thats pretty much volume 1 in a nut shell.
