I'm not big on the design but the CGI doesn't seem too bad (the SHADING in 3D reminds me a lot of Transformers Devastation) and the characters look solid if kinda generic "faux-anime". The clear GGG reference gives the most hope though, maybe unlike every other attempt to revive the franchise this will be kinda decent.
If they're going to make a fake mecha animu, they could have at least called it Legendary Defender Voltron

Plenty of shows make you wait until the mech shows up Gorg doesn't come in until like he fourth episode, Dancouga is like the 13th (but we get the beast machines and their individual transformations, it just doesn't form Dancouga until much later) Victory Gundam was forced to have the titular mech show up in the first episode and then it rewinds to show how he got it, which was fucking weird.
I think it's a good sign, it means they've got a story they want to tell and it doesn't strictly follow monster of the week where Voltron comes in and destroys the bad guy every time just in time for the credits.

When anime presents dark-skinned character it's not because of political correctness or muh diversity like it is with American media. A black characters whole existence is to be the black character. Since this is by The Legend of Korra people it should be noted Korra was specifcally tailored to be a strong, non-sexualized female poc. Their chief Goddess is somehow super powerful despite being outranked heavily by deities with far more numerous powerbases and unshared, non-racial domains to draw strength from.
We're told the biggest reason they aren't an ever-present threat is their constant in-fighting keeps them down, meaning they are mysteriously immune or highly resistant to the usual bullshit that keeps surface nations in check DESPITE living in what is supposed to be the most hostile place in the world which is chock-fucking-full of other empires and terrors which you'd expect to be beating down the Drow's doorstep every fucking day. But they still find the time to harass the surface when they don't even want to (and in some ways can't even) live there.
Also, the Underdark is fucking stupid and somehow Drow also exist in the mirror-planet version of Abeir despite the split having occured BEFORE Drow were made AND in absence of the deities who made Drow in the first place. What?
