I'm sick of being cockteased for over 20 fucking years.

You honestly think this is ever going to happen?
Yamaga should just sell Gainax to Anno/Khara already.
>>14038340
That's because it's a sequel.
>>14038032
It's set something like 50 years after the events of Honneamise.
It's about the air force rather than the space force.
From the old english gainax site:
The feeling of fast machines flying through the air
The grief and suffering of life
An animated film for adults
Men who love combat
Middle-aged men who are addicted to games
And the women who deride such men
This movie has all of these elements in mind.

Unless you are looking forward to more wobbly hair and shtitastic color palettes that look whiter than an Aryan.

This is the only piece of new art released so far (besides the red ship that was also on the poster when they made the revival reveal).
I don't know, it will probably not be up to expectations after so many years, plus I'm not a big fan of modern digital animation with digital coloring and such, but on the other hand I want to be optimistic, I'd rather it be released than cancelled again. It it's bad, too bad, but at least I want to see it for myself, I've fantasized about Aoki Uru for too many years, I want to know how these characters are like, what their story is.
I know there is a CD-Rom that was released in the 90s (when it was cancelled a 2nd time), that had a bunch of scripts, storyboards and stuff, but I was never able to find it for purchase, must have been a very low print run.
>>14039852
for some reason the pic wasn't uploaded even though I did select it.
>>14039858
and here is the back of said CD-Rom.

I've been looking for that thing for the past 8 years now. All I've ever found are a few references on Jap language sites, a redirect to Jap Ebay that shows something that looks nothing like it and an old ANN snippet from '98 discussing the release of the disc.

Supposedly on Amazon JP there's some sellers that have it, with prices over $100 or so.
I'm broke at the moment though

I saw a bit of a desription of the setting while ago. I think this is how it went.
Basically, the MC is a sort of pilot duelist. He and the other pictured pilots fight air-to-air dogfights as part of the old-fashioned tradition of dueling, and their garb is similarly seen as old-fashioned by the general populace. They fight to the death (or pretty close to it for comfort) in their aricraft, completely without parachutes, for the sake of raising thrills for their audiences. IIRC this tradition isn't really popular, but not really dying, either, not can I remember if it's a full-on sport, but I'm pretty sure it isn't.

Oh yeah, also I forgot that this story does -not- take place in the Kingdom of Honneamise, but another nation on the version of the world the story is set in.
It's shit because we all know it's going to have CGI like everything else modern Gainax does

Modern Gainax doesn't actually have in-house animators anymore.
