It's complete trash. Harlock is shown as antagonist who wants to destroy the world, even when he protects the world in the series when no one else does.

My father's favorite anime is Galaxy Express 999 and I wanted to watch it, but it's fucking 113 episodes strong according to wikipedia.
Should I watch the manga instead?
