He's been fighting in that thing for years and he doesn't realize it. All he's known for as long as he can remember are his own memories, the memories of a distant world and battle.
He's lost all sense of self.
He witnesses his young now adult son stepping out of a human made mecha, apparently the MC goes into hibernation occasionally and becomes unwakable unless the enemy comes.
He calls him by his name, and asks him how school was, then asks him about his mother. The boy replies with "father" he replies "yes?" he then yawns and says, I'll talk to you when I get up, I have a big day tomorrow and I have to get some rest.
He falls into hibernation for....5-1 0 years.

His mech is a unique prototype that was the first mecha ever made in his world, and the progenitor of all the mass-produced units made by the army that invaded and destroyed his country. It may or may not be haunted by the ghost of the scientist, his father, who built it and grants him supernatural piloting abilities.
Will then in turn be vaguely haunted by him after he is brutally and abruptly murdered in the first half of Season 2 by his former best friend who now acts as the right-hand man of the general in charge of the Occupation Forces, when it is taken up and piloted by a child soldier the MC had personally been training and raising as part of their rag-tag guerilla army dead-set on liberating their country from the 1st World invaders.I've put too much thought into this.

Sort of like Roger Smith, but a bit older, scruffier and a hell of a lot more cynical and sarcastic. He's sick of society's shit and mostly works odd jobs and private contracts. It's a dieselpunk setting with most of the robots being based visually off of cars from the 50's and 60's, his is an outdated military model that he's kept in shape with lots of customization and tuning. Outside of his mech, he fights with a large-caliber handgun and dirty boxing. Generally keeps his cool most of the time, but gets really fired up whenever anything does manage to piss him off.

A twoeter high drow elf wizard who just have had enough of matriarchy and decided to go with a bang. Guy is natural redhead, is greedy asshole and after blowing his city up with following cave-in, is now rampaging through Underdark acquiring random 'allies'.
Basically, genderbent Slayers with bits added here and there.
No world saving, thou annoying dark elven pantheon is a must.

My MC is the type of guy that always uses the minimum possible strength/effort just because he knows he can get away with it and likes pissing the enemy off. So if he has to pilot something, he'll pilot the smallest thing he can for as long as he can.
