Eh, My Neighbours the Yamada's was apparently completely digitally drawn and I thought it was one of the better ones. I think it has more to do with skill and inspiration than being digital or not. That being said, Ronja looked absolutely terrible

A tool is no replacement for skill.
Also never trust open source to deliver unless you contribute to it too.

Why does everyone think that this software will let them make animations all of a sudden?
You actually have to be able to animate, and if you were animating you were doing it just fine without this particular software.
It's like downloading final cut pro and thinking that's the missing link that will let you finally create the movie you always wanted to.

The program is free but talent is not included. If you can't make a good drawing with pencil and paper, this will not help you.

I don't see it making a huge difference. Only users already familiar with the Toonz software will be able to suddenly switch to the open source version without relearning everything. Studios will continue to use software that thier artists are trained to use. If they were smart they'd already be using free software.

As far as I know, most Japanese studios still not gone fully digital. Software is very expensive, free stuff can be a stimulus to make the next step. It will cut time and costs, improve quality and artist's experience (zero price of a mistake is a huge deal).
