The remaster is cropped to widescreen. SEED was originally produced in 4:3 aspect ratio so for any scenes they didn't redraw, you're losing about 20% of the picture.
Before anyone says they redrew nearly the entire show, that's simply untrue as it was a mix of several sources: primarily of upscaled footage (to varying levels of success - some more obvious than others), footage specially made for the compilation movies (i.e. Kira's and Lacus' discussion after the Mendel colony), and lastly redrawn footage (usually in key action scenes).

Actually it started when he got Freedom. His first foray, they made a point of showing him about to bisect Duel, then changing his mind and hitting it across the legs instead. He then tells Yzak to hurry out of the detonation area and kicks him clear into some allies, and Yzak's left agape going "Why did he..."
Not only that, he outright grabs a GINN's hand when its engines fail and drags it along behind him ahead of the JOSH-A shockwave. They land, he gets the pilot out, who says that while he appreciates the thought, it was a wasted effort. And then promptly dies. Thereafter, Kira generally makes a point of not killing people - he doesn't even properly kill Rau, for that matter, just impales the Providence and then leaves it to be nuked by G.E.N.E.S.I.S. a moment later.

It really just makes me wonder how Fukuda was able to get away with that? I mean, it's Gundam. I know there have been nipples in the past but it was mostly made in a time when censors weren't as strict or they were for OVAs. This is a main Gundam series, and it's not like Fukuda didn't get in trouble with the censors when he first made SEED.
My guess is that Banrise didn't care. Destiny didn't bring in any new fans back in the day, has always been rumored to have had less-than-stellar gunpla sales and just didn't work out the way they thought it would. They weren't expecting it to sell as much, so Fukuda was given more freedom to do what he wanted. After all, it's not like they rereleased the HGs for the Remaster like they did with SEED.

But it's true. Look at OP's picture, that wasn't in the Special Compilation movies and is neither a key action sequence. Does it really? The only music changes I can think of is them not using Meteor during the battle when they escape Orb (which is mostly because the song has become more associated with the Freedom since) and them using a different track when Eternal was escaping that wasn't used originally.
