This of all things isn't weird at all for Macross. Hell Plus and II had legit brainwashing by song, so why wouldn't the reverse work?

I don't have anything for this one, that's the premise of the show.
A lot of this stuff isn't that weird to me, or at least doesn't seem as weird as it can be to me because I and I'm assuming the others who are cool with it have seen all the Macross entries and see that everything here has been seen in an earlier series or a heavy upgrade from a previous series and come together in a way that feels over-the-top
