They are nothing alike.

First the character design of AKB is CRAP!
The character design of Macross Delta is VERY good!

This is what made me avoid AKB0048.

Also the mechs look like turd too.

Macross has awesome mechs.


Maybe AKB0048 was just Kawamori testing grounds on figthing Idols. That's why the mechs are crap and also the characters are shit.
