Is it just the season sleeper or did the sole person who seemed to have an interest in it here give up? Within 2 episodes I'm not exactly in it for the plot but boy is there style.

The Bubuki, or weapons, of the 4 members form the limbs of the Buranki - mechanical creature of some sort. The one without a weapon carries its heart. In the earlier episodes the team members just ride their Buranki from the outside. Now the can ride and control it from the inside - super sentai style.

Weird, I was thinking that Buranki were some sort of recent invading force but it looks like they're actually in a Robot Jox scenario where everyone had them.
Somebody needs to call Azuma's mother out on her shit with how any time anybody asks her anything she just changes the subject and ignores them and everybody is apparently too polite to say "stop ducking the goddamn question".
It's kind of weird how Azuma has the personality of a wet potato when he's with his team, but seems to have much better synergy with anybody he interacts with on the other teams.
