I was happy when the little shits on White Base were put in their place and even more so when Hayato died. I was depressed when Tomino killed him. Fuck Tomino for wasting time on worthless characters and then killing this based man

If it's any consolation, Fukui retconned that. The Nu and Sazabi's cockpit were recovered, and both were empty. Amuro and Char ascended into true newtypes where their physical bodies vanished and they became pure psychic ghost things living in a newtype heaven dimension (which is a physical place, located around Jupiter).

It's not really a retcon when Tomino already did that with Lalah, confirming her spirit as still alive in the Earthsphere thanks to Zeta and CCA. She even appears to Amuro in CCA. All Fukui (or more likely Fukui under Banrise's orders) did was confirm it.

Well, sort of. The animation is just Yazan kind of bonking him on the head with a mini beam saber, and then everyone is shocked and horrified as his seemingly intact body floats around half offscreen.
ZZ was really weird about mortal wounds that way. He gets bonked and dies, one of the Moon sisters kind of just keels over in the proximity of rocks, Leina barely gets grazed by a bullet but is suddenly sweating and struggling to breathe..

At least Mikazuki is pretty tolerable in IBO. It's the rest of the characters that are animoo trash. But yeah, no gundam series will ever have the maturity of the original show. Everything was just so down to Earth and Human for all of the characters involved.

It's a shame. I do like him, though, if anything, because he feels like the most Human character of the show. Or at least, the only one with a fucking brain. It's like he's the only one aware that he's in a life and death struggle. You know, I'm used to ignorant stupid shit being spouted on /m/, but this is one of the stupider ones I've seen. I mean, I can understand if you said that Wing was the first Gundam where the protagonists had a specific 'no kill' policy, which I think it was. But to specifically name Heero, the one who was still vaporizing Serpents whil the rest of the Wing boys were their pacifist run in Endless Waltz, just shows what an ignorant faggot you are.

Of all the Gundam leads, Amuro is definitely the best of them. If I needed a reliable mecha protagonist to fall back on, it's CCA Amuro. He's not afraid of killing if he has to, but at the same time he has no love of war. He just knows that he's one of the best pilots out there and it's his job to safeguard the world with his skills, and his philosophy that humanity will find its own way to the future with a little guidance and to be patient shows his maturity and empathy - being a Newtype helps of course.

In fairness, in Zeta Amuro was disabling Titans grunts by cutting off their backpacks. Kamille even tries to copy him, but bungles it and the enemy explodes anyway, and he realises Amuro can afford to show that much mercy because he's just that skilled - which I feel like a lot of the pacifist protagonists miss.I like Bellri for this reason, because even though he tries not to kill people, going for the disable is shown to be actually difficult and taxing, and at one point he shouts in frustration at the enemy that if they keep pushing him he'll have to fall back on the beam rifle. I think Tomino was on point for all of Reconguista in fact, and it seemed like a perfect reflection on 0079, Zeta and CCA a quarter of a century on.
Meanwhile, in AGE Kio gets a suit especially designed to disable suits with its head-slicing funnel swords, in Endless Waltz the pacifist brigade apparently has no trouble downing droves of enemies non-lethally despite using lethal weapons, and for all the pacifism talk Kira just lets his beam disco do the work while Banana Links doesn't fight enough people anyway to show a non-lethal approach, other than just refusing to shoot people.

Heero cries to Wufei about killing a puppy in Endless Waltz and the entirety of Wing is about pacifism - including taking out non-piloted suits for a good chunk of the show. It's all for a reason, but the start of the trend is probably Wing/Heero regardless.

They state during that scene that the fight would've been over earlier if they weren't going non lethal. By the end the Gundams were really damaged and some had no weapons left till Heero finished it.
