Was there any reason given to why amphibious Zeonic Suits sales looked derpy or something?

Probably to make them look like old-ass diving suits, I guess.

You'd look derpy too if you were effectively wearing a torpedo.

The OYW aqua MS we see in animation showcase this relatively well. Most all of them have rounded bodies and retractable limbs for swimming as well as weapons meant for firing in a medley of angles. The Zock, for example with its symmetrical sides and five (count 'em!) Mega Particle Cannon could fire at enemy MS, vehicles, or other targets above, below, or in front of it whilst swimming, and is effectively always covering its back at all times. These features are less pronounced on other aqua MS and the MSV OYW aqua MS, but they're still kinda there. However, most of the MSV MS have different purposes and design philosophies. The Agg, for instance, is not meant as a fighting MS at all, but was meant merely as a big drill for the planned attack on Jaburo.

>>13995393
Eh, that's in the realm of possibilities I guess.

TL;DR instead of being made to swim like people or animals, the early aquatic MS of Zeon were meant to swim like torpedoes or submarines do. This translates into rounded bodies and retractable limbs.

Future MS would also encompass some of these philosophies (e.g. Capule), but most, such as the Aqua Hizack, were merely humanoid MS with extra swim gubbins.

Humanoid MS however would keep the design philosophy of "swimming weapons", for example the Zaku Mariner's monoeye has an extended traverse for swimming, as well as torpedoes in its shoulders. Better than nothing, but not super-efficient.

Then why is Zogok a headless megaman character with fucking boomerangs? Underwater fucking boomerangs! And what part of the Juaggu or Acguy or Gasshia or whatever is even likenable to a torpedo?

Don't try to justify things made for a children's TV show and toy line. You just look stupid for it. Next thing you know you're justifying the Zakrello.

The Zogok is uncharacteristically rad-looking for an aquatic mobile suit, at least outside of ZZ.

Another reason for OYW aqua MS looking like they do is simply because they're built fucking big. The Gogg, as an example, had two very demanding reactors. This translates into several things:

>Extended operational time whilst in water
>Requirement of ballast tanks, contributing to shape and reducing land operational time
>Ability to mount bigger and more powerful weapons, in the case of the Gogg two torso mounted Mega Particle Cannon
>Physically strong

The Gogg, Z'Gok, Zock, and Acguy all follow these philosophies in some way or another. This is most easily noticed in the shapes of the bodies of the first three.

The main exception is the Acguy, as it is meant for different operations compared to the other aqua MS. It is the only aqua MS truly comparable to a diver, both in method of swimming and operation. The others are submarines (or at least shapes like one) with legs, guns, and pilots.

>attempt to answer op's question
>"don't be retarded!"
Yeah thanks.

This is besides how I already answered your question; the MSV aqua MS are not designed in the same way as the other aqua MS that appear in animation. You read the reply right?
>>
>>13995430
I assume the large size is in order to mount mega particle cannons. Mega Particle cannons are useful for sinking ships in space, so why not ships at sea too?
>>
>>13995424
>using the boomerangs underwater
Zogoks don't fight in the water.

>travel through water
>get onto land
>fire some boomerangs at enemy MS
>they get distracted by giant flying blades, chances are low it'll actually hit something critical
>close the gap and punch the shit out of it
>be smart and bring a heat sword and sturm faust while you're at it since you have an MS with usable hands
>just like any other MS, you're fucked if the enemy outnumbers you unless you're an important named character
>>
>>13995447
This guy gets it.

A Zogok, at least as far as we can tell, isn't a machine meant for swimming battles; it's just meant to take advantage of water and to fight in and around it. A Z'gok meanwhile is quite at home in water where it can really take advantage of its features, such as its head torpedo tubes.
>>
i wish we got to see them fight more often but i dont want more oyw shit
>>
>>13995384
Spacenoids can't into water. Your typical Zeek doesn't even know what a thunderstorm is, his typical contact with large bodies of water was probably limited to small artificial lakes and maybe some rich asshole's private pool.
>>
The Zogok is an amphibious suit, not an aquatic one. It's billed as a special forces unit. The Acguy is also quite small and very quiet.
>>
>>13995750
I can just imagine some member of the Zeek Brass hearing some statistic about the Earth being 71% covered in water and absolutely insisting that R&D make fuck tons of aquatic mobile suits.
>>
>>13995750
This never made any sense to me. They have rain on the colonies. There's even thunder in the distance when Amuro and Lalah meet for the first time. They should be about as familiar with lightning as the people native to Earth, even if they're surprised to see it happening randomly and unpredictably.
>>
>>13995750
Little known fact, the colony drop was really a zeonic attempt to set up a military base in the ocean.
And they missed.
>>
>>13995750
>Spacenoids can't into water.
Do you not understand the lore at all?

The Zeon navy demolished the ESEF's after destroying most of the blue water fleet, and continued to be a completely valid threat for like a decade after the OYW. The only reason they stopped being on the to-do list for the Federation is that there were too few after the OYW to deal with actively and that they only functioned as opportunist pirates due to lack of supplies from a defunct facist space state.
>>
what series is best for underwater mobile suits?

already seen war in the pocket so those gogg's wrecking the GMs was great.
>>
>>13996411
Aside from 0079 and bits of the Thunderbolt manga, that's all you're getting.

Much like the Dom's hoverjet function, aquatic MS abilities are never really brought forwards again save for quick cameos (like in Unicorn or parts of Zeta I think).

After more or less all of Zeon moves permanently into space, the earth's oceans stop being relevant. And no other Gundam franchise really does much with aquatic MS except as a side-show mook-MS-of-the-week (like the Piecies/Cancer in Wing).
>>
Apparently Tomino himself designed the 0079 aquatic mobile suits, Okawara just cleaned them up and left them mostly intact.

well the standard UC version is, in The Origin it's on the smaller side of things as they put a heavy emphasis on it being a commando unit

What >>13995401 said, it's meant to go through the water with minimal drag so it uses less fuel to travel far or fast.

As for why you had things like Acguy family, they weren't made specifically for underwater combat, but to use water as a means of transport to the battlefield where they'd then attack on land while the regular aquatic mobile suits you see in series can fight both in the water and on land.
